With all the info on f-chat, i could not find one thread descibing the work involved in changing the clutch on an early 308. I think i did see one/several in the past. Can somebody point me in the right direction? Thanks!
It isn't hard. i did it 35 years ago, with nothing but a manual written in Italian (i don't read Italian very well, if all all. Cambio, yo) and basic mechanics tools. I would spring for a correct 4 tang socket(s) to get some of the retaining nuts off vs using drift punch and hammer like i did (it worked OK, back then, but was half-assed, and i was in a hurry). Its a lot easier than doing an inline motor/trans car. The hardest part was taking the starter off. Make sure you fill the transfer case/drop gear case with a few ounces of gear lube prior to staring up the car. Its a lot easier than changing a clutch in an inline motor/trans car. Doug
