They are great. Did some stuff for me in my mondial T years ago.

    Thoughts on the transition?

    599s are calling me.

Congrats. Very bada$$. Love the black black and blackness.

599 is a great car. The v12 is awesome and I also love the looks. However, I just enjoyed the driving characteristics of a rear engine and started craving a more modern Ferrari.

I also have a F430, and started to enjoy driving it more than the 599. I’m keeping the F430 as I love the exhaust and all that comes with it. I’m surprised that the 458 is as quiet as it is.

    Great car!
How would you compare the 458 to the 599?

458 is one of the best, I would love to add a V12 Ferrari but will always have a mid engine V8 Ferrari.

Hi Edward, let me caveat this by saying I am no expert. I will just give my humble opinions.

Exhaust note - no comparison, 599 is so much better. The sound of the V12 is much better than the subdued sound of the 458. I also had a valve controller on the 599 which enhanced the experience. I may possibly upgrade the exhaust in the 458, but it still may not equal that of the 599.

Handling - no comparison, the 458 is so much better. My 599 was not an HGTE, so that could make a difference. However, the 599 felt very “floaty”, so I never felt connected to the road like my 430 and 458.

Engine - well one has 4 more cylinders than the other. Can I tell the difference, not really but I’m sure more experienced drivers can. My butt meter was equally impressed for both. Comparatively my 430 feels way slower at acceleration and high speed pass than the 599 and 458 (obviously).

Transmission - dual clutch way better than the 599 F1. No comparison.

Comfort - definitely love the modern amenities of the 458. I actually like the media interface in the 458. Funny thing is that I would rather have the hand brake in the 599 and 430 than the electronic version in the 458.

The drive - the 599 is a true GT, but I prefer the nimble performance of the 458. I would rather carve a canyon than take a long drive. To each their own.

Looks - all so subjective. I stayed with black on black for both cars. I love the looks of the 599 and will probably miss it at some point. However, love my new to me 458. I could have acquired a 488, but wanted to stay normally aspirated. My daily driver is a C63, so I get the twin turbo experience. Nothing beats normally aspirated though. I attached a pic of my 599.

Congrats, and you bought my car’s twin! 2013 Nero/Nero with Matt black sport wheels, red calipers and red stitching. Unfortunately standard seats, not carbon race seats but love the heating now that it’s chilly. Any interior pics?

Love the twins. I have red stitching also. Daytona seats but wanted carbon race seats like you. I’m going on a drive right now. I will snap some interior pics when I get back.

Good notes and agree with what you said....I’ve considered adding a 599 for a while and do love the V12 raw experience of it.
Yes the 458 will be much more nimble through turns.
I would definitely suggest adding exhaust to the 458 for refined F1 sound - S line or IPE sound wonderful.

Congrats for the 458 - the DCT is truly amazing compared with the 599 F1 gearbox, and the mid-engine V8 is far more nimble than a nose-heavy front engined V12 (even though Ferrari made a good job at limiting the damage with the rear gearbox).
For me the NA V8 just lacks torque to an unbearable extent... that's why unlike many I welcomed the turbochargers and the 488 made me shift from V12 (599) to V8.
The V12 sound is unmatchable, so I don't care for a V8 sound and whatever alleged degradation of sound on a V8 is meaningless to me.

I worked with Laura. She is great, no pressure and totally responsive to any question or request I had. She is not hugely knowledgeable on the vehicles, but that was ok by me. She always got the answer. Z is the owner and is involved the moment numbers are involved. I believe all deals go through him. PM me with any questions. I would be happy to give you any details.

Having both a 458 and 599 HGTE for me it boils down to running canyons vs the highway roads. The v12 on the roads can’t be beat, handles fine, exhaust notes and comfort too notch. The 458 handling through the canyons far exceeds the 12 cyl and is a far more exhilarating experience.

It will be a bit of a late reply :) but I'm still happy for you the 458, I'm wondering if you still have the car in your possession in the intervening years. I've owned a 599 gtb for about 3 years, and every time I drive it, I feel it's a very special car, but the question of whether I should replace it with a 458 italia for a while started playing ball in my backyard. It may be to provide great convenience in use for city traffic and slow speeds and to experience a different Ferrari model.

Speaking for today, what would be your opinion, should I swap it out for a 458 with a traditional front-engined v12 Ferrari? Do you think it's worth it?
    Have a nice day.

Maybe a little side view from me - when owning a 599 I really thought the lack of torque of the 458 was unbearable; I loved the DCT though and was aware of the advantages of a less heavy mid engined car. So I switched the 599 for a 488, because the turbocharging wiped out the lack of torque of the smaller block V8. To go on track it's a far better package than the 599 (although driven properly, a 599 is not really slow). But after only a few years I already missed the V12... so I ended up adding a 550 to the 488; for me it was better value than replacing the 488 by a later mid engined Ferrari.

Hi Ahmet, I forgot that I wrote this post years ago. I still have the 458 and now it has 12k miles. No regrets and not missing the 599, even almost 4 years later. However during this time I did get rid of my F430 and picked up a Huracan and recently a 1988 Carrera to the stable.
