Using that basis, a 718 or Corvette is exotic and an Aston Martin is not.

The only thing "exotic car" really means today is expensive MSRP and uncommon. It doesn't have anything to do with what it can or can't do.

For the price and the new niche, it's just too derivative. This could have been the F8 and no one would have argued otherwise. For $500-700K, it should not be designed like a $300K car IMO. New Ford GT is cheaper, yet it completely stands out from everything.

$500K+ should buy a lot more than what they're giving in the design department.

Lamborghini formed an alliance with MIT 3 years ago with the goal of developing Super Capacitor technology for use in cars. The advantages over batteries would be game changing but the current state of this technology is still in its fancy.

Lamborghini already said super capacitors are not going to be in any upcoming cars and they will be traditional hybrids with traditional batteries. As interesting as the technology is, they currently are not feasible and likely won't be for a long time (if ever).

Funny I think the SF90 looks better than the LaF personally. I really dig it and can't wait to spec mine out next month!

“We were dreaming two years ago,” says Dincă. "Now, we really think this could be happening."
The new patented material was synthesized by Dincă’s lab in the Department of Chemistry, with the support of Automobili Lamborghini’s Concept Development Department, and will serve as the technological base for a new generation of supercapacitors.

IMHO the front and rear of the car are mismatched... the front 2/3 looks awkwardly small in comparison to the rear. No interest at all in this monstrosity. Just my opinion... YMMV.

My understanding is that the current big hits are the F8 (surprisingly?) and the 812 GTS - interestingly, I'm not aware of a final price for the 812 GTS but I expect it to be in the same bracket as the SF90 S.

Chris harris said sf90 is going to be model ferrari forces you to buy in order to get the desirable ones. Harsh but I can see it happening

I was told that as well, but the sf90 and get the next "la ferrari" or whatever. I'm not biting though. I do have a deposit for 812gts, which I'm hoping will stay under 500

On the long term it does not make sense though - if people are ready to spend more money for the desirable models, why not just charge more for these models rather than asking them to buy other cars that they do not want?
It can be a reaction to an unexpected demand situation, but as a deliberate strategy it's rather nonsensical.
