Do you trust a repaired tire?

I would not do any high speed driving on a patched tire.

 

Most tire manufactures do not recommend repairing tires. Those who do only recommend a permanant repair such as a patch plug. A tire plug itself is a temporary repair.

hot shoe wife’s car ( that you love) get a new tire.

daily- plug or patch but not on sidewall

I do, as long as it's in the tread (not sidewall) and is repaired by someone who knows what he/she is doing. A small puncture repair is not going to cause a catastrophic blowout even if it fails.

 

LOL you really want to trust your Ferrari's safety and your own safety to a tire guy at Discount Tire?

 

Buddy- Not the guys at Discount Tire, but I trust my tire shop to do it right. Why all the panic about a repaired tire? Pirelli always allowed one repair per tire as far back as the P7s on 308s. Nothing has changed.

 

How it is repaired makes a huge difference. A plug, not at all on that car. Tire off patch/plug properly done, absolutely.

I had a slow leak and had it patched. It left me stranded months later 100 miles from home. No spare obviously and it was a nightmare. People at the local tire shop didn't even want to touch the car. I had to find a place with a tire, get it mounted and borrow a jack from the tire place where I towed it. Remember they didn't want to touch it. All day debacle . I advise get another tire shortly.

 

Wrong shop, obviously. My tire shop loves to see the 575M.

 

I've repaired a lot of tires. When repaired propertly and appropriately, a patched tire will lose no more air than one that wasn't punctured.

Having said that, a repaired tire is structurally compromised. I wouldn't drive one at 130 mph.

 

^ No idea where I got this but I thought a repaired tire loses its speed rating. Perfectly fine to drive on but no longer at the rated speed.
