Any thoughts on which Ferrari under $200k will hold best value? Thinking 599GTB, 430 Scuderia, F12 Berlinetta. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
You don’t worry about high production numbers with 458? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Yes but since it's the last v8 NA, absolutely beautiful, extremely fast, useable etc, it has the whole package so it should not devalue so fast as previous v8 mid engined regular production. If you want to hedge it a bit, go for one with racing seats.
might be the last naturally aspirated... Plus they built over 20k. Not going to make it exactly collectible.
OP asked about holding the value. Im not saying it will become a half a million car. Im saying i believe it's one that will hold its value better than what's out there for <$200k. Id bet a 458 that you buy today at $150/160k will be worth maybe 10% less in 2 years with 10k more miles unless we get into a recession. Also, check aircooled 911s and how many were built and tell me they are not collectible. Or Jeeps or VW minibus or E30s....
You're gonna loose money on each and every one of them. They're all going downward. You want a fully depreciated model. All the above have some fallin' to do. Hint: if it has an F1 transmission.. it's gonna fall further. DCT is more reliable and better in every way. It's what future buyers are going to want and pay for. Not old technology that wears out in 20k miles.
I believe that historically what appreciated the best was front engine. 2 passenger, V12, gated shifter. It's worked well for me in past and why I now have a 550. It also should be easier to keep alive in the future due to much less reliance on unique electronics. I put it in the same class as the 275 and the Daytona. I don't think history will be kind to cars with the F1 shifter that was not a DCT.
For purely investment purposes I would say either a 512TR, 512 Boxer if you can find one in that price range, or maybe a 330. None of those are modern, fun cars to drive, and the maintenance on the 512 may eat you up. For a modern car I would vote for a Scud first, and a 430 manual second. BT
FWIW, 328s seem worth more now than when I bought mine in 1999. But maintenance will cost you anything you hope to gain in "profit". Buy to enjoy, not to resell.
The one that makes you happiest. Ultimately they're all cost centers, so which ever makes your heart sing, and makes you not mind paying the upkeep
investment, 355 Challenge. I still believe that. Not partial as I have to sell mine because of the divorce. I know it will be worth more in 5, 10, and 20 years than I sell it for.
512tr. last mid engine 12 cylinder, gated shifter, iconic shape, nothing like it since from ferrari in that price range.
