The little shop near me in San Antonio has 430’s lined up for swaps whenever I’m there. Seems to be quite popular.

Sorry,,,but im not buying that one. I converted my car about a year prior to helping Art at EAG convert his first car by phone and there are people on this forum that know that. And also It wasnt to long ago that he was asking me if i wanted to invest in parts making.

Man, I love how these threads mysteriously come up whenever this dude has a "conversion" for sale.

Perhaps these threads come up due to interest in gated cars.

Bat results will be an interesting data point for this niche.

I've owned a lot of exotic cars.

I also don't understand the obsession with a stick shift. I certainly wouldn't spend money to mechanically convert a Ferrari from factory spec to "my spec". I'd just go buy a Ferrari with a factory stick shift.

Chances are the dealership isn't going to work on the home grown manual conversion with the non-factory homemade parts. So there go the service records. You'll see when you go to sell.

So what you’re saying is that a manual converted F430 is going to be less worth then an equal F1?

As anyone knows...... aftermarket mods don’t increase the value of any car. Hell, just repaint your 430 a different color than it left the factory and you severely impact your ability to sell it at any price.

If you’re mechanically inclined and want to mod your 430 for the track or whatever then that’s your prerogative and I think it’s great. But to mod a factory F1 430 for cruising around town is silly imo. Just got buy a factory gated 430.

Jason— the gated swap is just a change out of the controls from the f1 to gated... which should be easily reversible if you felt it needed to be done on future sale.

It’s not like the chassis is welded or modified in anyway.

    what am I missing?

Your defense of the conversion as “easily reversible” is only proving my point. It’s your car, do what you want. I just don’t see the value in any way.

My comments are directed towards the posts implying there is “value” in the conversion and that folks are lined up to convert their cars. I’m not buying it. The value in factory 6 speed cars is because they are more rare than the F1 cars. Not because more folks want a 6 speed manual. It’s just supply and demand.

I’m not defending anything, just having a nice chat:)

so by your logic all the f430’s lined up at the little shop in Texas are all speculators hoping to cash in on the gated craze?

never thought of it this way.

    There is no gated craze.

Like I said,...... there were not many factory gated cars built. That’s why they are more valuable. You can’t mistake this for folks actually wanting to drive a gated car. I’d bet most factory gated cars are garage queens. Supply and demand.

My 360 is very shortly on its way to San Antonio (if we can find transport!!!!!) for conversion. Strictly because I want to drive a gated Modena. And avoid F1 issues. I think there are a ton of people out there just like me. And I believe the value will settle somewhere between an F1 and Factory Gated. But I couldn't care less. I can't wait to drive this thing!!!

I'm considering having an early 612 converted for the same reason.

I have a gated 360 but would be interested in purchasing some of these parts anyway. Is this possible?

Dealers don't want to work on them? Funny....what about the cars that have been converted by dealers? Do they now turn them away?

And really, dealer service records making the car more valuable? That is funny.

Many, many people do. And they drive their cars, and they enjoy them and then sell them onto someone else who drives it and enjoys it. Like me they pay less and factor that into the price.

Ditto on that too! I would be cool to have a set of parts to convert a 360 or 430 if they drop into the basement pricewise in the future.

You ignored the part on how lack of service records affects value.

Every post I’ve made in this thread is in response to how certain things affect the value of a car. If you don’t care then just say you don’t care. Don’t candy coat it. Just be real.
