Somehow i think i got my alarm system out of sync..... When you turn the car on, u hit the alarm button and you get two honks and the car is ready to start. When you start the car, the car alarm light goes on and then is suppose to go off If it goes off and comes back on solid, there is a (supposedly) an open door, hood or bonnet. My alarm light goes off and back on solid - indicating an error. However, everything is closed correctly and nothing open. How do i go about diagnosing this issue? Yesterday when this started, i opened the door with the power switch off, and that started the issues, then my pressing the alarm button to get the car started seemed to get things out of sync? Anyhow, now when i drive the car, the alarm light is on solid, where it is suppose to be off. Looking for some help here.......
ive resorted to arming the car everytime i exit and then disarming when im ready to drive. anything else leads to mass confusion and aggravation.
i can see that happening.....this is the first time this has gotten out of sync......i owned it since new 2003, so i guess I'm lucky, but im sure there is an easy fix to this.
Sounds like your alarm siren has failed. Ferrari replacement part is around $350, GM equivalent less than $100 on line.
That is exactly what I was getting at, Terry Obvious the battery in the module has failed. We mostly all know what that entails

Funny you say this.. my siren just gave me constant light on mode ... I’m on my 2nd new Ferrari siren in 2 years
It's not the siren. It is the battery within the unit which causes the problem Key is to disassemble the unit before it fails to remove the surface-mounted batteries and replace with an external 7.2V rechargeable. It will last nearly forever!
The light is the LED light on the lower left side of the dash, that either blinks when the alarm is activated or in my case, after you start the car, the light will come on and then go out - which comes back on solid...... ill read that thread you all sent to me.
I have done a few of those modules, and I have posted quite a bit of info on that thread It is not rocket science but takes dexterity. The OEM batteries are generally computer motherboard style solder-on batteries that leak and damage the circuit board Read the thread and try to understand it. It is easier than replacing timing belts!!!
The attached photos show the different batteries. a) computer motherboard style b) compact circular style Compact circular style is about the diameter of a quarter but about 1/4" thick.
