https://www.passione500.it/particolari-interno-vettura/tasca-portaoggetti-pannello-porta-fiat-500-l-alta-qualita Good source for Dino 246 door pockets and perfect match to the original and so much cheaper than some on the market They don't come with the metal strip but that's fairly easy to do, these come with 4 studs on the rear so 2 of these can be cut off easily. Anyone who has bought the superformance items in the past needs to look at these!
My Swiss buddy called me from Italy and I mentioned the door pockets from passione500. By chance he was 10 minutes away from them at the time. He said they went through a bunch of them to find a nice one as many were less than perfect. The nice one he found was spot on to the original pocket. Ask them to pick out a nice one if you order from them.
The guy told me he had a batch made but were not good enough and so ordered more. I bought a set some time ago just in case my old ones got broke, they were perfect quality. No harm in asking though! Tony
Hi Tony, I have one metal strip missing on my original door pockets. Can you give me any info as to where I can get or how to make a replacement please,
Charles You will need to get hold of a few items, luckily you have one to copy: 1. Some half round D section nickel plated beading - most specialist model shops will sell this stuff. https://eileensemporium.com/index.php?option=com_hikashop&ctrl=category&task=listing&cid=1078&name=square-rectangular-tube-1&Itemid=189 2. 2 no 3/64" pins 3. Small section of THIN nickel sheet to make centre clip (only on mid to late E series, early m to mid e series had no centre clip) I didnt make the clip so it fitted into the centre hole like the originals, all I did was make the face the same and glued it into position. At the time all i could get was brass d section bead, but had it nickel plated once it was cut to size. The difficult bit is to get the d section beading to sit into the groove, get the metal warm and malleable and it will bend very easily, hook one end over the door pocket and stretch into the groove, keeping the pressure on bead, then bend the tab over the other end. Drill the pin holes either end once in place, do not drill before as the tension and flexing will break the bead. Tony
See this link https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/looking-to-reproduce-dino-door-pockets.305701/page-8 for some photos and description of how I made the trim for my door pockets. Fun project.
Do these have the same internal markings as originals, such as below? Both my pairs have sequential numbering from Right to Left which would leave one to wonder why the different sides had different cast numbers ... Image Unavailable, Please Login
No markings. They are a little ripply on the inside but not bad. The one I received looks dead on externally and was dirt cheap.
Hey, just paint the trim on! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ferrari-Pair-Dino-206-246-GT-GTS-Door-Pocket-W-Silver-Trim/383428891862?hash=item59462494d6:g:0wcAAOSwBF5eTbNZ
