Hello I am looking for curiosity to understand the history of this car and to reconstruct the elements of its history.

Here is the starting point of my research

The Bonhams auction in 2003 in Monte Carlo

The information given on the car is as follows:

Sold new in Switzerland, this two-seater Pininfarina coupé with 'inside plug' engine had been in a Geneva based collection for ten years when acquired by the current owner at BROOKS’ auction in March 1998. Its mechanicals had been overhauled in 1990, since when only 250-or-so kilometres had been covered: in the present ownership the car has not been driven. It has disc brakes front and rear. While in the vendor's hands, '1157' has been repainted in its original white livery and its interior re-trimmed in correct tan leather. The car is offered with Swiss roadworthiness certificate and Permis de Circulation.

This car may be imported to the EU by French or Monegasque residents at a preferential VAT rate of just 5.5%, or alternatively by any EU resident via Great Britain at a preferential VAT rate of just 5%.

The information given on the car is as follows:

In January 1959, the car was sold to its first owner, well known collector Julio Battista Falla, a resident of New York, USA and Havana, Cuba and in 1961 was converted to disc brakes at the factory. Imported into Switzerland in the 1970s, it had been in a Swiss private collection for ten years when acquired by the preceding owner in March 1998, prior to which date its mechanicals had been thoroughly overhauled (in 1990) and the engine rebuilt by the respected German firm, Kahlen. While in the preceding owner’s hands, ‘1157’ was repainted in its original white livery and had its interior re-trimmed in tan leather before being sold at Bonhams’ Les Grandes Marques à Monaco Sale on 26th May 2003 (Lot 206).

Finally to finish I look at GTC in France there is info on their site

    HISTORY:
This car has been sold in February 1959 to the President of Cuba, M. Battista (car used in Italy), then in 1962 to M. Camellini (Italy)

Then, the car has been sold in Switzerland, only 2 owners in Switzerland until we purchase the car in 2003

Sold to a French customer in 2003 and now back with GTC in a trade for a more important car ENGINE 128LM FROM NEW

As we have the engine build sheet of the car, we have the confirmation that this engine block 128LM was originally fitted on the car of the DG (Directore Generale = Enzo Ferrari), and then taken out and put on the car of M. Battista. So, this car is really more quickest and powerful than any 250 GT coupe PF

Restored in Switzerland in the late 90’; its engine has been totally rebuilt in 1990, since when about only 2,000 kms had been covered, and during the ownership of the last owner, the car has been totally restored and repainted in its original white livery with the interior re-trimmed in correct tan leather

4 Sources with 4 divergent stories then if you have any information thank you in advance !!!!!!!

The first owner is a Cuban driver (Julio Batista Falla)
or a Cuban President (Mr. Battista)?

I am looking for photos when sold by Brooks Auction in Geneva in 1998

Then photos during the sale by Bonhams in Monaco in 2003

The current owner (s) will be the children of the first owner and will be in Switzerland !!!! but with a Spanish plate !!!

    it's still quite complicated !!!!!

Nothing complicated here except that some dealers and other sales people don't do their homework properly and supply incorrect information. Happens all the time.
Batista Falla was neither president of Cuba nor the race driver. He was a businessman (sugar) and resident in both Cuba and New York. He previously owned 212 Inter Coupé Vignale 0217 EL.
1157 GT car went to his brother in the 60s, not to Mario Camellini in Modena. Camellini was a dealer. 1157 GT then had three owners in Switzerland prior to Brooks Geneva auction 1998. May 2003 it was sold to a dealer in Marseille who bought it for a man resident in Montreux, Switzerland. It was then repainted white again (it had been darkblue in between). July 24, 2006, the car was traded against the NART Michelotti bodied 365 GTB/4 Spider. The French dealer then consigned it to the Bonhams Gstaad sale 19 December 2007 where it was sold to the son of the first owner, resident in Madrid, Spain. That same person drove 1157 GT in the May 2012 Tribute to the Mille Miglia. Here's a pic of him, I know the man personally since years. He was also active on fchat until he was pissed off by some very rude people on the forum here.

En l'an 2000.
