Didn't know which forum this would benefit from the most since I am looking for a comparison , preferably from someone who's made the jump from a 360 to a 599, sooo....I went and looked at a reasonably priced 599 a couple weeks ago, and what I'm mainly looking for is the difference in maintenance, costs, etc. between the 2 cars. I have a gated 360 that I diy 90%, and would try to do the same if I ended up going that route, I'm assuming it's still a lot of Bosch that is available outside of the Ferrari routes...whats great about the 360 is that if you can turn a wrench, it almost never has to set foot in a dealership, and I would hope for the same with a 599. I don't buy investments, I buy drivers's cars that have been driven and will be driven so collector's value isn't a factor.

If you do most of your regular maintenance yourself, the costs should be comparable, maybe even less for the 599. The 360s are now 5-10 years older, require regular belt changes. The 599 has the added complexity of the F1 system. Get the maintenance manual, a good code scanner and have at it.

Would have thought you will be entering into the computer / ECU / CEL / clutch position / control module —— reset abyss with the 599 . If chasing your tail with softwhere updates is your thing .....fine .

I had a 360 and it was as you infer simple and low tech quite DIY er able .

Cam you elaborate? Was there an update from Ferrari that eliminated potential issues with the F1 system? This is honestly one of my main concerns...I searched out and paid a premium for a gated 360 for a reason.

You could search out and pay a premium for a manual 599 too. That would be a keeper for sure. The main difference as you obviously know is the complexity of the F1 which does not fit well for most DIYers. You just need to be prepared to suck up unexpected expensive repair bills. Or you may never have a problem. In 4 years of my 360 ownership I had 1 F1 issue which ran 6k and took the dealer forever to fix.
