As I sit and day dream about all the cars I don’t own I became curious how most folks in this forum manage garage spots. I’ve got 3 cars in the household. My DD / Wife & Family car / Fun car. They are all car guy cars and fun but with different purposes. Think I could squeeze in one more and still be able to drive it semi regularly but then it attracts time away from existing fun car and ultimately you pick a favorite and the other doesn't get driven. What’s your set up?
Four cars in a four car garage. My wife and I work at the same place so we drive in together. We have three cars in the DD rotation, one of which only gets driven on sunny days (2013 JCW Mini with 16K miles). This keeps the miles low on all of them and we'll use the F430 for fun stuff.
I'd have a Tesla S P100D for my daily driver, a regular Model S for the wife, and then a 458 Speciale for the fun car. But then I'd also want to keep the FF for the family fun car, plus a Raptor and a Jeep, plus an old E-type to tinker with. Also if I'm being really dreamy I'd like an old Bugatti or Dusenberg to stare at... I'm gonna need a bigger garage.
Switch to motorcycles. I keep 4 of them in my garage plus 2 jet skis and the F430. The Raptor lives outside.
Rotating the DD sounds like a good idea that I hadn’t really considered the more I think about it. I have a thing for older gen bmws. Current DD is an E39 M5 which is the greatest car ever made and don’t try to argue with me That said, Scud for the weekend and rotate the E39 with an 80’s 911 or an E30 M3 for DD duty doesn't sound terrible. Too big of a wuss for motorcycle.
Beautiful. Started with an 02 Lemans, loved it so much I traded up for a lower mileage 03 titanium. Should be good to go one that one for a long time. Pretty bomb proof cars in my experience, may even be a dead man car for me.
I have a large one car garage with a Bendpak 4 post. I keep the F on the lift (up) and the wife parks the Lexus under. I DD my Ferrari so I bring it down almost every day.
2 car garage. 360 and wifes A4 in the garage. Cayenne outside and covered 997 outside. Would love to have a 4 post lift in the garage for the 360 and 997 but garage not high enough..
I am crippled by a single 2 car garage built into the house so I am building another 2 car garage with a floor and ceiling height capable of handling a 2 post lift. I plan on installing a Bendpak Grandprix GP-7LC. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The framing crew started this morning at 7am and by dark, I had this: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Good call. I need to find a 2003 LeMans blue one before it's too late and they're all in poor condition or 6 figures.
You sure you can't get the height? I have 9'-8" to the ceiling, and am getting the tracks moved up, and a torsion spring opener installed next week, and then a 4 post lift next weekend. Stacking an S2000 (50" tall) and an Alfa 4C spider (46" tall), and shuld have abuot 7-8" of headroom above the Alfa once stored. BT
Getting a 4 post installed in the oversize two car. F430 on the bottom, Supra top, 135i in the open space, 535xi winter car stored outside under cover.
I would Love to build another garage...but already surpassed the allotted FAR, city denied Sent from my 16M
I miss the days my FIL let me park my cars in his 78,000 sq ft warehouse. Sigh. I had a race trailer and 6 cars there at one point.
I’m blessed to have a six car garage.... and it’s full! Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio as DD Mclaren 12C for going fast 1956 Austin Healey just for fun Ford Raptor for messing around Land Rover Evoque for the wife Toyota Sienna for hauling around the fam. Yea... I have a minivan Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have a 4000 square foot shop at my house, can fit 16 cars in there in the winter. Full of friends mustangs, corvette, GTO, roadrunner, Saab 9-3 convertible, little bit of everything. No height though and not heated, so I only keep the two daily drivers here, and I keep my four mustangs at my work shop, 3000 square feet, built in 2004, heated, and 14 foot ceiling. This is where I have a four post lift.
I put an offer on this place in CO on 65 acres. Image Unavailable, Please Login The garage is 1,000 SF and has electric, water, and sewer connections for a motor coach inside. Image Unavailable, Please Login Hope the deal works out.
