I’m looking to place an order soon for an F8, but can’t decide whether coupe or spider. One concern I have about the coupe comes from a review I saw, in which a comment was made that the slotted clear plastic engine cover is so thin it vibrates while being driven, making rearward viewing annoying. Anyone driven the car and noticed this?

No, the engine cover does not vibrate when driving. It doesn't in the Pista and did not on the F8 test drive. The decision between coupe/spider is one that only you can make. Everyone has their personal opinion. Good luck.

No issue with the Lexan cover.

I did not have any vibration issue with the F-8 cover but visibility is not a good as my 488 has. The slats cause this but not really an issue.

This is trueand like racerdj says it really is not an issue. Aesthetically, it looks fantastic and is worth a little worse visibility in my opinion.

Did not even think about it during my drive. A non issue.

I have a spider now and wanted to try a coupe because I love being able to see the engine through the rear glass.

Will also be interesting to see how much more solid the car will be as a coupe.

Whats that old saying? “Whats behind you doesn’t matter”? I didn’t notice any vibration, perhaps some slight distortion of the view where the slats are but nothing that would stop me from buying the car or would be a safety issue.

When I test drove the F8 the lexan rear cover did flex under driving. Matter of fact, I pointed it out to the salesman driving with me as I noticed it when looking through the rear view mirror. My definition of "flex" is that during bumps, the area around the slots "flexed". It did not"vibrate" in the true sense of the word. Is it annoying? No it wasn't annoying but rather surprised me at how much it flexed. That's the reason the Scud and the Challenge Stradale had the cross bracing. Would it deter me from buying an F8 coupe? Not at all....

From 8:45-8:50 is what the vibration around the slot looks like. May be this is your concern.

Simply looks like the car was going over a bump.

OP, how much time do you spend looking out the rear?

Well it doesn’t vibrate BUT you may have noticed the slots and the cut edge give a prism effect on the viewing especially in bright sunlight like we have in FLORIDA. I’m not suggesting this matters but it is there. I pointed it out to the sales aka her in our drive. I love it. Who cares ? But..

In my test drive of the beautiful F8, I didn't notice any issue with the rear view- but I was really focused on all the twisty roads ahead of us :)

After the drive I sat in the F8 for a bit. Perhaps I refused to leave. Mine allegedly will be a spring 2020 car.

Total non issue unless you plan on driving in reverse a lot.
