Great thread. James, I am pretty ecstatic that you have undertaken this project. As someone who didn't grow up in a car family, my knowledge of the older cars and their place in history is only now being developed. Following your adventure with this car has allowed me to gain an appreciation for the older sports cars, particularly the GT40. Thanks for sharing it with us. DES, Thanks for the pics and the write-up. Truly a great experience.
Great writing Napolis. Very cool of you to share the experience and photos of that magnificent automobile. Thanks!
Wow! Almost missed this. Carbon, what did I tell you about titles? Embrittlement? I thought maybe you were on a rant. No more cherry cokes for you. Actually, I'm big-time jealous. Great write up and pics. But most of all, my hat is off to Napolis for sharing this with us. Most people in his situation have a big-time hang up with privacy (for obvious reasons). It is very generous of him to share his pride and joy with all of us. Keep those cards and pics coming... Dr "Man, I wish I hadda been there" Tax
Those are my sentiments exactly. This is a pretty big deal to see. The fact that James is going to drive this car, like he drives the GT40, magnifies it even more. As I said in the other post, this has really allowed me to gain an appreciation for the older cars and their place in history.
great Post Carbon, and many thx to James for sharing. Best visit I've had with a car for a very long time, felt like we were all right there taking pictures with quivering hands!
Doc, if you sifted through the inches-thick folder of information i have at home on 0846, Mr. G. and the myriad of facts that tell me how never the twain shall part, you'd know why i called it Embrittlement (although, i thought it kinda fit with the one of the points of the story, anyway)... i know it's a little off-key, but hey - i'm left-brained...! Thanks everyone; i'm really looking forward to seeing this legend when it's all in one piece and :::dreamy sigh::: running...
"Bruce - I better not see an Energizer cell in the P4." ACTUALLY GREG, JAMES WILL HAVE 20 STICKERS OF BUNNIES TO PUT ALL OVER THE P4.....MOSTLY ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD, AS WELL AS JAMES WEARING A "ENERGIZER BUNNY PINK RACING SUIT".........NOT
WOW WOW WOW!!! Thats amazing Carb, you hardly even notice the 360 in the background with so much beauty in the foreground.
For those of us with no-brains, forget right or left, can you give me a hint? Just curious. Seriously, when I frist saw the thread title, I read it as Entitlement and thought geeze another rant about something. Then I finally saw Embrittlement, I thought well, hell... it's a slow news day... Dr "Embrittled" Tax
Hey Carbon, Great Story and Pix! Mr. Glickenhaus' has created a worthy environment to accommodate such a beautiful specimen. How could someone repay such a kind deed? Reciprocating with ones talent such as yours would probably leave Mr. Glickenhaus the same impression you've come away with. I could see one of your soon to be Famous "Enzo Ferrari" drawings on the shop wall? It would blend well with the Italian Color Scheme. (anyone else notice?) I've seen some of your Enzo drawings, they are truly stunning, to say the least! Chuck
Off the subject question -- Whose 360 Spider is that in some of the pictures?? A beautiful car -- you hardly ever see one with the top down.
Carbon, I agree with many others, you have a real talent with words. Thanks for sharing the experience. I felt like I was there. Bruce is one first class guy isn't he. Now get you head out of the clouds and get back to work.(just kidding) Dave
