After years of searching, I've finally found and purchased a 2009 Aston DBS with the 6-speed. Been wanting one of these for 10 years now. Quantum silver with black interior :)

For those of you who have a DBS, or have had one, what are the typical issues you've run into that I should keep an eye on? How's the drive-ability of the car on a daily basis? I'm currently using my California T almost every day, which seems to be bullet proof. I'm expecting the DBS to be a bit more temperamental.

Thinking I need to get the Definite Guide to the Gaydon era AM (the book is $500...Kindle option seems best).

    Thanks!

I had a 6 speed 09" DBS as well for 3 years in Lightening silver. I drove it daily and had zero issues with it. Only thing that comes to mind is that it easily get flats spots if not driven for a couple months so would advise tire cradles if not being driven daily. I live in NJ so didn't use it for 4 months in the winter.

I really wish I kept it but traded it in for a 458 and at the time didn't have any space to keep it. Oh i just remembered that sometimes the gas lid stick and won't open unless I slid a credit card to pop it up. This is a known problem with Astons for that year but easily remedied by adjusting the hinge I think.

I recommend being a member of AMOC (Aston Martin Owners Club), you can got a lot of insight/help for the car.

Congrats! and best of luck and enjoy in good health.

The shocks go bad with time and mileage (around 40k) . I was told by the Houston authorized dealer that its a $6,000 fix.

So see if this have been replaced depending on your mileage.

While not a DBS, my '09 DB9 is an enjoyable daily driver. I had to replace the ambient air temp sensor ($35) last month but that's all that has gone bad on the car since new.

    On my 5th Aston...started with:
    V8V Nurburgring Edition
    DBS Casino Royale manual
    V12VS Morning Frost White
    DBS Morning Frost White
    Vanquish Morning Frost White

Here are the issues I’ve had with Astons:
    1. Fuel lid gets stuck
    2. Emissions CEL comes on due to either gas cap or O2 sensor
    3. Headliner ceiling sag
    4. Swan door hinge struts weaken
    5. Leather smell lost
    6. Driver bolster wear
    7. **Manual metal gearshift knob scratches easily and gets very hot in hot weather
    8. Center console flip screen back cracked and mal-aligned
    9. AC didn’t blow cold air

All above are rather minor and fairly easy to fix. But the point is to do a very thorough PPI, especially visually. These cars are so seductive to drive and I love them as a daily driver. Elegance combined with symphony.

No sir! Both my DB9 and (especially) my DB7Vantage still smell like a fine pair of shoes - even with the top down heading down the road. AC works well in both. You might have a point on the DB9 door struts - but they still work well enough. And the V12 exhaust note of each is intoxicating.... ;-)

    Awesome, thanks guys!

Sounds like nothing too concerning which is great to hear. With the number of manual cars dwindling, especially the GT/Exotics, I'm glad I was able to snag one. The dual clutch transmissions being put in modern exotics are certainly amazing, but driver engagement seems all but gone at this point.

I'll look into the Aston Martin Owners Club as well.

Had some electrical gremlins with mine; my favorite was “parking brake light” or “trunk open” used to randomly come on while doing fast speeds on the highway. Learned to live with them. Great cars and the sound ... !

With first series Vanquish, the DBS is in my opinion the best looking car to come out from Aston Martin in a long time.Extremely rare color you bought,as they only made 32 Quantum Silver with the 6 speed, that includes the 10 they made for the movie.Fortunate to own a few Astons myself,I can say with certitude, you will stall the car, especially backing up.The clutch pedal is high. The rest was already mentioned/ door struts/ shocks will leak if its sits...
Congratulation, if your careful and not add to much miles, the DBS will give you great driving pleasure and reward you once you decide to resale.
    Cheers,many miles in good health

True. I do it often. I believe its actually a combination of tall reverse gearing, lack of feeling through the drive-by-wire throttle and a muted exhaust note at low revs. The shifter itself snicks through the gears with the best of them once you are under way...

Be sure to brake check...the car has ceramics and if they are damaged you're quote is well in excess of 10k....just drive it up to a reasonable "speed" and you'll either feel vibration at speed or warped feeling while braking.....there is a YouTube video about it somewhere but if you feel this.....find another car.

Otherwise I'm on my second and will absolutely never the one I now have.
