Anyone know if #0428M will be going to Cavallino this year? I see it is done with it's restoration and featured on the front cover of the magazine this month.
I think it's first showing was at Pebble Beach last year? Good to see that car finished in black again. Fantastic looking Pan Am car. I will never forget getting huge photos sent to me from the owner. He was on the fence on what color to paint the car. Glad his good taste prevailed.
I can’t say for certain if Pebble Beach was its first showing since its restoration, but I’m pretty certain you’re correct. I believe it took second in its class.
Yes, 0428 MD was first shown after the restoration (by Bob Smith Coachworks of Gainesville/TX) at Pebble Beach 18 August 2019 and it did place 2nd in class and also won the Enzo Ferrari Award. It will be shown at Cavallino in a few weeks. Marcel Massini
Thank you. Cant wait to see it. Tom is an exceptional owner and steward to the brand. Another great collaboration between he and Bob Smiths team.
One of the best looking "Monza's" or hybrid rebody in my opinion. That car along with the black OSCA were some of the prettiest cars at the 1954 Pan Americana.
Did final prep work for Cavallino this morning. The car will be picked up next weekend for its trip down to Palm Beach. It lives in Reno, NV. PS: You will be able to see 250 GTO #4153 GT at Cavallino in less than 2 weeks. Marcel Massini
Red Pegasus horses facing out toward fenders here. But face in toward center of car in photos of Cavallino 234.
If I have any time prior to the special awards meeting and you are available I'd like a couple of detail pictures from your car. I'll need you to have it open. We'll talk there.
