I agree. In the time context, it's so correct and the texture contrast to everything else on the car, STUNNING!

Miquel, this forum section and thread is focused on Connolly leathers used in vintage (pre-1974 or so) Ferraris.
Leathers used in those are and were significantly different than those used in 2000 Maserati 3200GT.
You may have better luck finding correct information if you post your question in Maserati section of this forum.

I am posting here because I believe that my 1974 Ferrari has Connolly leather used in vintage (pre-1974 or so)

I am having the seats refurbish with new foam at a local upholster utilizing the original leather. The old foam is shot and is disintegrating all over the Ferrari every time we sit down. I want to save the original leather (I suspect it is original) so when the cushions come back, I plan on trying to re-dye them in the original color. This is were the problem comes in. The color is describe as bone color (nothing in Ferrari is called that, that I know of). Could this be creama just darkened or lighten over time. Reading threads and searching is turning up nothing about this color. I am attaching a picture of the seat apart for comments. The Ferrari is well documented on Ferrari Chat, Ferrari vin# 17675 .

^ what looks like dirt in the leather is ash from the tanning process. it can not be removed.

Marcel; Wow, You are the encyclopedia Britannia of Ferrari information (I assume you are old enough to know that is a major compliment, lol). Thank you so much for the info and pictures.

Thank you Edward, That information makes the decision to try and re-dye the leather easier. The Leather is in excellent condition but that make the blemishes just stand out more.

Connolly Vaumol hides were used in a lot of the classic Ferraris - I get that.
Was the Connolly Autocalf range used too? What about Connolly Autocalf Fawn 7611?
Reason I ask is I have just unearthed over 6 hides of this in the loft and not sure if it was bought for a Ferrari or some other type of car....
    Would welcome any thoughts, thanks

I wonder if VM3087 is an older stock number for VM3015.

John, I don't think so; having seen both - they seem a little different, the VM3087 a little deeper/darker. Last I saw it, some years past now, Pf Coupe 1747GT still had its original VM3087 as in the photo. The Pininfarina records list it as VM3087 to the best of my knowledge.

Here another Pininfarina Coupe that was recorded as originally with VM3087. This is 1007GT with its original leather, BEFORE it was later restored with new leather. This photo taken near 30 years ago.

Ed, mine had the VM3015 and I think it started appearing in Ferraris around 1963-64. It is almost identical to what CC posted, above. Here's a picture of my old interior.

Here are a couple of pictures I have had in my records for a very long time and I cannot remember where they came from. I hope I haven't stepped on anyone's toes by posting them here. Left is VM3015; right is VM3087. All things being equal, you can say that the latter is a bit darker, as CC stated.

John, you got those pix from me, ages ago. No problem with posting.
Great seeing you in MRY and congratulations for selling the Lusso for this world record price. Clearly, a superb restoration and perfect history make a big difference. Very well done indeed.
