Driving my 599 this morning, I got a "Lamp Failure" warning that has persisted through a few cycles of turning the car on and off. I've tested all the lights visually and all seem fine. Is this kind of warning a stored fault? i.e a light could have blipped and now is a stored fault code that needs clearing? Or is it a real-time fault code? Not a fan of resetting the ECU, but will do so if that's a known fix to an issue like this. Many thanks!
Found the culprit. It’s my drivers side Daytime Running Light (DRL) LED strip. Can this be replace by an amateur like me? Btw it’s a uk car
It is not an LED. It is a regular H6W halogen bulb. If you look in your owners manual it gives you the instructions on how to replace it. Brian Brown San Francisco Motorsports
thanks for your reply Brian. just to check, so, even though they look like an LED strip, they are just a strip of lenses with a regular halogen bulb behind?
Yes, the single halogen bulb lights up the long strip of lenses in the headlight assembly. Did you look in your owners manual? Brian Brown San Francisco Motorsports
Thanks Brian and Rex71 I did take a look a the owners manual, but was hoping it would would say something like DRL or Daytime Running Light - it only refers to "the front direction indicator bulb" and "the position light bulb". I'm assuming it's the "position light bulb" that lights up the strip. Is that correct?
I believe that is correct. Some owners considered installing LEDs in place of the old bulb, but that will trigger an electrical failure alarm. You can find more info in this old thread or search in the 360/430 section. I suggest to install the original bulbs.
Good day everyone. Lamp failure warning starting the car this morning. Left front position light strip is dead. Likely, it is the bulb (H6W) gone. Before replacing it wanted to check the fuse. However, could not find affecting fuse position/label in the owner's manual (pages 141-150). Do you know this fuse reference? Thank you, Sandro
