If you don’t have the iPod connector in the glove box it sounds like your car doesn’t have the option fitted...? I think the USB is just for transferring music to the hard drive...

Bovee is for use with iPod cable.

To my knowledge, the 458 infotainment system has two connectors: a USB cable to update the firmware and upload music, and a 30pin cable and connector for the Bovee or iPhone. It could be that the 30pin has fallen behind the glove box.

My 458 had the 30 pin connector in the glove box which was a $795 option. I tried and returned the Bovee after a few days. POS device that required manual re-pairing of my Iphone to the Bovee nearly everytime I started the car. Ended up parking an Ipod Nano to the 30 pin connector and leaving it in the glove box. YMMV.

FWIW my iphone X pairs via Bluetooth to my Huracan and Mini Countryman 100% of the time automatically.

Yeah, I have a Bovee installed, and have the same issue with having to manually turn off Bluetooth and turn it back on to re-sink. Then it works just fine. The only time this is not an issue is when the car is turned off for a very brief time.

Ditto. It could be worse for sure, just flick Bt on your phone off and on again, but it is lame. Would love a fix.

It is correct there are two ports back there. I bought and extra cable thinking it could be rewired to lighting cable, but it does not appear that it can be done. I have used the bovee and other BT connectors in my other cars in the past and none of them had the connection problems the 458 has. The other units connect right away and every time.

My car only has a usb cable in the glove area. I have the upgraded JBL stereo system and I find it hard to believe that It would lack the 30 pin phone connector having the upgraded stereo. Im puzzled.

You guys are also saying that in terms of the USB cable that its primary function is for uploading music but this cable charges my phone when I plug a lightning cable to it.

Can we dive deeper into how this all works as Im needing to use my phone as my head unit.

The IPOD Connection and the JBL were separate options.

My options list has them listed as:
    SNDB HIGH POWER HIFI SYSTEM
    IPOD IPOD CONNECTION

It's possible the original buyer purchased SNDB but not IPOD.

there has got to be a way to retrofit iPod after the fact...no?

what can a stereo shop do?

Is my only option to get a fm transmitter?

Also can I do handsfree bt phonecalls without music?

Anything is possible. I was just commenting that just because it has JBL doesn't mean it has the iPod connector.

sorry wasn't trying to be an ass. Just frustrated that the OB opted out of phone integration....I understand purists that only want to hear the engine purr but phone calls?

Totally understand. I'd be annoyed too.

If you just want phone calls, you don't need the iPod Connector. Does your car have Navigation? I think bluetooth came with that.

    NAVC RADIONAVI SYSTEM + BLUETOOTH

The cable can be had for 300 bucks regardless how the car was born. Plug and play.
