Maybe F1 and Indycar are having a butt-ugly competition - I think Indycar now has an unassailable lead
That's an early version and later ones are better, but still ugly. The screen was developed by Red Bull for Indy. The Halo couldn't be used because when you're on 45 degree banking, the halo top bar impedes distance vision. There are more flying debris issues too, because the cars run much closer together. The same issue will apply though, how quickly a driver can get out of an overturned car. My 5c opinion is that danger is part of racing and making the cars ugly is bad for the long term survival of the sport. However, the safety activists probably have an agenda to save the planet by eliminating motorsport.
That pic is from today. Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date It looks like they installed the halo with a screen... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Scuderia Ferrari Formula One team are eager to wrest both championships from Mercedes’ grasp and are taking every step. The good news is that the team’s 2020 chassis has passed the crash tests with flying colours. What this also means is that Ferrari is on schedule to unveil their latest beast on February 11. The fifteen tests required by the FIA to green light each team’s chassis for the coming season, were successfully passed. These tests took place at the CSI ‘Certification & Testing’ centre in Bollate, just outside Milan. The project codenamed ‘671’ is now ready for the official name of the single-seater on 11 February. According to Motosport.com Italy, Ferrari is the second team to pass the 2020 crash test. The first ones to pass the test was the Racing Point team, as they set about working hard on their own 2020 car. However, it was not all good news for every F1 team. This was because Alfa Romeo failed the frontal test and they will have to go back to the drawing board. Let's face it, he's not going to win anywhere else. Hamilton to sign two-year Mercedes extension – report https://www.planetf1.com/news/lewis-hamilton-mercedes-contract/ Lewis Hamilton is reportedly in the ‘advanced stages’ of signing a two-year contract extension with Mercedes, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. Hamilton, who is currently out of contract at the end of the 2020 season, had been strongly linked with a move to Ferrari after the Italian newspaper also first broke the news that the two parties had engaged in talks during the 2019 season. However, with Charles Leclerc committing his long-term future to Ferrari and Max Verstappen doing likewise at Red Bull, Hamilton looks set to follow suit by extending his stay with the Silver Arrows. In Friday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, journalist Luigi Perna concluded an article on Hamilton, which opened with the six-time World Champion’s vow to become “a machine” this year, with the following lines: “In the meantime, Lewis Hamilton is in discussion with Mercedes over the renewal of his contract,” wrote Perna. “The negotiation, which will see Hamilton extend his stay until the end of 2022, is at an advanced stage and is worth in the region of 45m Euros a year with bonuses.” With Leclerc and Verstappen technically off the market for Mercedes, it left them with one main priority to tie Hamilton down as he goes in search of a seventh World Championship title. Hamilton had spoken about the dilemma he was facing as he weighed up his loyalty to Mercedes with the temptation of a new challenge with Ferrari. “I know I look good in red,” Hamilton told Channel 4 last October. “But it’s a very, very difficult scenario. “I’ve been with Mercedes since I was 13. Change is always cool but loyalty is everything, that is why I have this tattoo [on his left arm]. “I’m not going to be racing forever… what am I going to do in the future? “Do I want to remain part of Mercedes doing something quite epic beyond racing? “If I was, for example, going to shift [teams] then I don’t know what that is going to look like.”
As if F1 fans could not get any more excited, they have been given another reason to be delighted. According to a tweet from Netflix France, season 2 of Formula One: Drive to Survive will drop on the 28th of February. Already, the buzz is building for a new season and there were a lot of juicy moments from the 2019 season
