When I bought by 1971 Fiat Dino 2400 Spider it came fitted with "Dino" script Cromodora rims, rather than "FIAT" script items. I have since examined the wheels and discovered they are stamped "'73" inside the rim. This settles the debate I have been having with various Dino experts as to whether the wheels are original to my car, and I agree with Matthias's view (http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144711209-post17.html) that "Dino" script rims were likely introduced after the end of the Fiat Dino production run and most likely were only ever fitted to 246s. I will be sourcing lowly "FIAT" script wheels to return my car to original spec as part of a general restoration and consequently my factory original 246 GT/S wheels are surplace to requirements, see classified section if interested.

I would be interested to hear from any Dino owners if they have a different theory about the distribution of "Dino/FIAT" script wheels among the various models rolling off the production line at Maranello in the early 70s.

My former Dino (03964, with June, 1972 production), had "FIAT" on the original spare wheel (the other wheels had been replaced by Campagnolo wheels before I bought it). My Jan., 1973 production Dino (04808, production date per Matthias Bartz) has Cromodora wheels that say "Dino" in script. When exactly the change occurred I couldn't speculate. Fred

with the end of the Fiat Dino production, beginning of 1972, the Dino script rim was introduced for the Ferrari Dinos...

The same for my May '72 build 04054 which has it's original wheels - no Dino script, just the Cromodora name and FIAT marking along with rim size.

I think that the Ferrari Dino fitted Michelin XWX https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/205-70wr14-michelin-xwx.html

And the later Dino fitted Pirelli CN36 https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/catalog/product/view/id/5855/category/6884 That was the Fiat Dino 2400

The earlier cars fitted 185R14. Michelin Make an MXV which is a great tyre, and in my mind the best tyre in the size. However it is a bit late, so i am currently in negotiations with Pirelli to make 185VR14 Cinturato CN36, which would be OE for the Fiat. But also good news for the Ferrai 206, because it would be a proper period tyre.

I have Dino 04788 with an October 1972 build date.
It has Dino script on the Cromodora wheels, and they are date coded about March of 1972.
