Hi all, The B pillars on my 86 convertible need replacing (usual rubber damage from the mechanism). I saw RonF has made these in the past. Anyone else need a set? Cheers Mick
I would be happy to make more but I would need a secure order for about six sets to cover the cost of the tooling. I still have some of the metal spline inserts ready to go which is a huge advantage. Standing by..... Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Thanks Ron, Hopefully more newer cabriolet owners will see this and line up - age just makes the rubber brittle. Cheers Mick
Good day gentlemen, '92 T would like some too. I had written an email to Ron I think in October last year, so glad to see this thread coming up. Please pm me payment details. Shipping would have to go to EU though.....
I am willing to make another run of these but the tooling and materials are very expensive and there is a lot of labor involved. If I can get a real commitment for six pair I will proceed. As mentioned in previous posts, I make a very modest “profit” from making these and I can’t take on the risk. Thanks - Ron Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Good morning all cabriolet owners, As I count we have an order for 4 until now: Mick5961 Chris Mondi Wingnut Mondi Cab (me). Ron, if you disclose the price tag on them when producing 6 pairs, maybe others will join in. Just 2 more pairs to go..... Cheers to all !
what are the cost? can we see the finished product or is there a place I can go to see the finished product? Thanks
Hello Meister, I wanted to give the honors to Ron, but he quoted me 1.308,-- per pair + payment costs (f.e. paypal etc. do not come free) + shipping. Including you, we 'd have the required 6 together: Mick5961 (who started this thread) Chris Mondi Wingnut Albert Penello Meister and poor little me If every one could confirm his interest, then Ron can confirm his quote and maybe give us an etr (estimated time of readiness) Best regards and happy motoring !
Wow! I just saw this thread and the recent activity. Yes, the price should be the about the same although I will need to check on the material cost as it has gone up a bit in the past few years. And this represents a value as someone is trying to sell one B Pillar on EBAY for $800.00 and its only going to fall apart like all the other OEM parts. My B Pillars are made with a much tougher silicone material and I have incorporated a number of other improvements that have proven to provide a very robust part. As mentioned previously, I’m not a buisness trying to get rich but I do need to cover my cost with a small amount of profit to go toward my maintenance fund. Honestly, I enjoy trying to help fellow Mondial brothers solve common problems and keep our cars in top shape. If we get to 6 pair, I will get started. Thanks Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Hello guys again, Ron needs our confirmation, so please check if you are still on to this and place your orders. Mick5961 already did. I am confirming too. What about the others?
Hello once again fellow cabriolet owners, I thought we had 6 pairs together about a month ago, and two weeks ago we supposingly even got to 7. Could we all reconfirm to Ron that we seriously want those B-pillars and make a down payment? He won't start making them just for laughs. Reading this thread we were all serious: Mick5961 (who started this thread) Chris Mondi Wingnut Albert Penello Meister lenoroc Mondi Cab Let's get this going before summer please ! Best regards and try to think of Corona as a yellow foamy beverage.... Mondi Cab
Well, I have some news. I finally found the time to kick off the production of more Mondial B Pillars. I will have units available to ship in about one weeks time. These pillars will be slightly better than my last run as I made another small adjustment to the geometry at the base of the Pillar to further reduce the chance of interference with the body panel (although they still hit the body panel). I am also using a newly available urethane material that has a higher rating for toughness and is more UV stable. I had a look at the first parts off tool and needed to make some minor adjustments. Production will resume today. These parts will appear to be complete original, including the decorative dot pattern and Mondial text. They will fit all Mondial Cabriolets - 8, 3.2 and T's and because of the material I am using , they will not dry up and fall apart as time goes by. I should get about ten pair from my tooling before it becomes useless so get them while I have them. The cost will be $1520.00 / pair and I prefer to sell them as a pair. They will come with the necessary rivets for assembly. If you have a drill and a standard rivet gun, they are really easy to install. I should add that I did my best to keep the cost down. The tooling, metal splines and material is expensive and these are not easy to produce. Im doing this to help fellow Mondial owners keep their cars in great shape while making a small profit to go toward my own maintenance. If you search for New Old Stock B Pillars you will likely see them being offered for $1600.00 a pair, and the New Old Stock parts will only fall apart soon after they are installed. Let me know if you want to be put on the list. Thanks - Ron Frohock ps. I will be posting this in the Ferrari Parts section as soon as I have them available for sale.
