I know you (and the entire world) have been demanding a Michelin-starred Dim Sum place Who knew...seriously, I think of dim sum as low end, quick food. But...here it is...a place in London called A. Wong with a star and dim sum to die for...They come in 1-piece orders, so iirc I had around a dozen. I have to admit, several of these were among the most tasty mouthfuls I've ever had. and one more (the most interesting looking, which was a bun with mushroom and truffle inside and somehow painted to look like a mushroom on the outside....i didn't check if the grass it was served on was real or astroturf!) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Cooked at home one night...ribeye sliced and served with roasted red potatoes and rosemary and some roasted brussels sprouts. It was sadly a thin steak and thus I couldn't get any browning without overcooking it (I even left it in the fridge to keep the center cool to buy some cooking time, but it was just too darn thin). It was still okay. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Okay, so we pretty much hate living in London, and view the only saving grace as the abundance of great ethnic food of all varieties. So we eat out a lot and try loads of different cuisines. Here is a sample of foods from just the past week (not pictured are two Indian meals, since they are so common I don't even take pics all the time). So, you used the hard shell tacos to add crunch to the burrito looking thing? Burgers at Kincaids with Ferrari friends. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login The Cali looks like an SUV next to that silver F355! T
We used doritos inferno for crunch. It a home made taco bell supreme crunch. That looks not snowy and very nice!
turns out one thing the brits do better is that their stores seem to have lots of pre-cut, ready-to-cook stuff on hand. I picked up the pre-cooked noodles, a large package of pre-cut mixed "asian type" veggies, 3/4lb of cubed chicken breast and a package of sweet chili sauce for $7. Serves 3. I cut the chicken into smaller bits and seasoned it with a ton of dry things; garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flake, black pepper, powdered ginger, powdered coriander, ginger stirfry seasoning, lemon pepper and another general asisan spice mix. Then cooked until perhaps 3/4 done in a bit of oil and soy sauce in the wok. Then took the chicken out and put the noodles into the wok and a bit more soy and let them deglaze and soak up the pan sauce. Then added the veggies and more dry spices and soy and lemon juice. Put back the chicken. Tossed in some chopped fresh cilantro and poured a bit of the sweet chili sauce and mix. Cooked all that for 2-3 minutes. Topped with fresh cilantro to serve. Whole thing took about 20 minutes and hardly any dirty dishes/utensils to clean.
lordy that looks yummy. I gotta try that. (and - truth be known and I'm not proud of it - it makes me want to take a run for the border when we move back to the USA. I think I've eaten at Taco Bell 2x in the past 30 years...but somehow that creation of yours makes their advertising more effective!) I haven't had mexican food since I left the USA back on October 1...going to Spain (well, the Canary Islands) on saturday so will have some hispanic food of sorts there I guess. But ameri-mex will have to wait for nearly a full year before I can enjoy again back in the USA.
How hot are the inferno? It was nice sunny weather, a tad cool (by our standards) after a few days of rain and cloud. T
Those look evil. On one of our last trips, the wife bought me Spicy Doritos. Meh. They were pretty wimpy. T
I did a chicken sandwich and onion rings at Popeyes. Tonight I'm going to a casino for prime rib. side note. my dads biggest client owned the casino. he owned four or five casino's and a hotel in Whistler. sold them a few years before he died for $1.4 billion. Most of my dads clients in Europe. My Dad had a flat in London in the 1980's, my dad didn't like "living" in London either. Even though he was only there a few weeks per month.
Yummy. Casino prime beef. I have dragged my wife to a few of those when we visit Vegas. So, what the beef with living in London? Sounds like a great place if you're a foodie. I have only been there once, 20 years back, for a day or so...T
Almost forgot. Smoking a turkey! Nabbed an extra one a few weeks ago before they disappeared post-holiday. Thaw for a few days in the fridge. Doing it over oak. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Forgot I had these! May have to throw something else in later. What's that circled in red? Llama?!? T
Turkey finishing up in the oven. Brisket flat on now. Image Unavailable, Please Login Chili seasoning and salt (seasoning that we use has no salt)...T
