Is this something easily repaired or should I factor in a complete seat recovering into the price for a car?

Starting to get into the details now to begin my search for a 430.

    Thanks,
    Corey

Very common on both the 430s and 360s. A good leather restorer should be able to dye and repair it.

Common to many sports cars with high seat boosters. Porsche’s suffer from the same malady.

As above, easily fixed by any competent auto interior company. I had my 360’s seats re-dyed for $100 each.

When I bought my '05 F430 over three years ago with just 9500 miles on it, the dealer had already had it done. I would never had known because it looked new (still does with 11,700 miles).

This has been going on since the beginning of time.
Put your butt in first then rotate as you bring in your legs.
I keep the seats well treated with Leatherique. Major soak annually then touch ups as needed.

Yep. Almost all cars with real leather will show bolster wear.

Don’t think the rest of the car has been neglected though. It’s just something that happens like Sticky buttons.

Mine had a badly worn bolster when I bought it. Had it dyed ($400) while getting some fixes found in the PPI and has been very nice ever since. The trick to keeping it that way is to avoid scrubbing it when climbing into the car as noted in a previous post. One can climb in carefully and avoid touching it altogether. Also, it's a good idea to avoid wearing pants with metal studs when driving the car.

i would also recommend using a silky pillow case or the like to sit on.....when u put your but in first, then u have to twist it to get positioned, that wears the seat bottoms as well, depending on the type of shorts/pants your wearing.

I do the butt install first and twist on the pillow case - my 360 has 9K miles and they look absolutely BRAND new!

I also use the leatherique conditioner - a must!

Check out these guys. I have been to their shop and was extremely impressed. I've never seen an upholstery shop so high tech! They have laser cutters for the leather, dual needle sewing machines, etc. Anyway, they showed me this product they came out with and I cannot wait to get a set. It's basically bolster covers, but they use the Ferrari leather and stitching and they are so perfect that you wouldn't even know they were there if you weren't looking for them. They are at www.faverro.com. Here are some pictures.

I dyed my own, bespoke leathering has touch up dye that's a perfect match. I cleaned it thoroughly, took my time with the dye and super happy with the results, looks brand new. I'm super ocd with my cars so that's a big statement coming from me

I dyed my own as well. A year later, I had to dye them again. And again. This is why I'm picking up a set of these covers.

Yes they wear. No I don't care. Pay for a cover, not as good looking as the seats, and live with that. OR drive it, don't worry, have fun, and get them fixed when they wear. I choose the 2nd option because I drive my car and it isn't a garage queen. Mike drives his too, maybe more than I do, and likes the 1st option.

Also FYI.....make sure that you or your passenger are not wearing a cell phone holder on the side of your waist .These holders will tear the side bolsters apart. Ask me how I know! SMH

They are the exact same shape as the seat bolsters, use the exact same leather and the same stitching. What would make them less noticeable? An honest question.

IMO the red is better match but overall the sheen is off. The covers have a flatter finish than the seats. It's a good idea, just not something I'd put in my car for both appearance and cost.

You're always going to have this problem with new leather until you treat it with some sort of leather conditioner (i.e. Lexol, etc.). New hydes are typically very dry.
