thanks for the reply - in reflecting on my question and your feedback and questions, I guess it’s not straightforward from any angle - I tend to gravitate towards relatively unknown, low production tourbillon examples... and all of us likely are attracted to whatever we like and can figure out how to rationalize in the end.. I guess the nature of the question was more related to experience with the Badollet brand as much as anything.

Had dinner with two Fchat members that I didn’t know very well. Very glad I went. Nice and fun evening.

Thought I'd share my latest watch story. My nephew is currently attending the Rolex watchmaking school in PA. He reached out a few weeks ago asking if I had any watches that need serviced. Um, YES? My 20+ year old Speedmaster hasn't run well in years, never serviced in the time I've owned it. I knew it needed work, but it's long been out of my wearing rotation and off the radar. I sent it to him this week and he's already cracked it. He's texting me updates, kind of fun.

    >>After 30 minutes of struggling, a broken case knife, and a cut finger the dressed up 7750 is revealed. Some truly sadistic person glued it shut.

Interesting because I bought the watch grey market off the internet as NIB. Hmmmm.

    >>There's your problem. Looking at the pallet fork and escape wheel. One of the pushers leaked and let a tiny bit of moisture in. Rust particles on everything.

The last message was my lesson learned for the day:

    >>Doesn't have to be a big leak for moisture related issues. May have been sealed up on a particularly humid day. We'll pressure test it to see. We have to dehumidify the building here it gets so bad. More than one watch service was ruined on a rainy day.

Yeah, it’s so classic and not ostentatious, yet when you look at it you know and can appreciate it. I sold the only watch I’ve ever sold, an Air-King, in order to get mine.

Heading to the islands for a few days soon. Any thoughts on pieces? Since we dress for dinner I’m thinking my Tiffany for evening and one of the Seiko's @cwilson13 has talked me into buying for the beach.
Last year I wore the Apple Watch I bought specifically for the trip and hated it the entire time. Although why I looked at the dam thing at all while I was laying on a beach next to a beautiful naked woman is beyond me. :D

A classic Sub would be superb for the beach. An Apple watch is not good to take to the nude beach as you might be tempted to take selfies.

Take the Seiko. I usually wear a Wenger dive watch when I’m in the sand, the real watch gets put on the rest of the time.

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking. Why risk 25k at the beach?

Unless you plan to workout, no need for the Apple Watch. The Seiko is perfect for all beach/water/excursion vacation activities. As for Tiffany, great choice. Simple and classic. Goes with everything.

Since it’s not our money shouldn’t those words be “Grand Seiko?” ;)

Had it for years. It was my great uncle’s retirement watch in July 1962. Pretty sure I’ve posted it before. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Ok, long term lurker to this thread. You guys have some stunning watches and a great variety as well; loving it.

I certainly don't feel worthy posting up here, but here is my go to daily watch. (I only have three others so not a massive choice!) (And copy cat "watch pose" in my Ferrari.)

My dad actually found it on a back road in Canada in the mid 80s, without straps and looking fairly sorry for itself. I was given it in the late 90s and I had it serviced and tidied up. Its on its 2nd Hirsch strap and soon to have its 3rd. Its not perfect by any means but I have enjoyed it ever since.
