That is the first I have heard of the auto stop. The demo car I drove did not have that or it was turned off. Anyone know?

Yes there is a button somewhere around the rear view mirror to turn it off.

I thought Schmee is annoying. These 2 make him appear charming and ingratiating by comparison. If the F8 could be that fast with an extra 600 lbs of occupants, that speaks volumes for how quick it is. Notwithstanding their perception, turbo lag has been minimized to the level that renders it inconsequential. And the auto start can be defeated.

That made me laugh out loud. Thanks for that! Agree - turbo lag was non issue on my test drive.

Did you observe how the second driver grips the steering wheel? 11 o’clock and 2 o’clock. Interesting.

I was going to comment on how awful the presenters were but found it such low hanging fruit I just put down my phone instead. Good Lord was that bad.

They seem to be unable to differentiate between turbo lag and boost threshold. The auto stop-start is of course defeatable.

If I was in the passenger seat of a 700+ HP supercar and saw the driver holding the wheel like that, I would have made an excuse to disembark...

    Killer spec, the CF wheals
They are not presenters, at least NOT professional ones, they are just normal Ferrari owners/ normal guys, they just don't know how to deal with the camera, probably they are not photogenic BUT I find them so sweet and so natural.

My Pista is an auto stop. I’m assuming F8 does. I always turn it off.

The F8 that I test drove had the auto stop. Portofino, 812 and Pista all have auto stop. The good news like you said is that it can be disabled. But has to be disabled every time the car is restarted. Rumor has it though that at some point the ability to disable will be removed which to me is a deal breaker.
Keep enjoying your Pista. Pistaless people like us will live vicariously through you!!!

If really one day we will not be able to disable the autostop I think will not buy ferrari anymore.
I have 15km to my office, slow and many stop. I excuse with climate problem... But I love to hear my engine.

Have also a range rover and a mini Cooper with autostop, i use this 2 to take kids to school...

So pls let us dream when we are alone.

It has to be turned off each time ? That is disappointing to hear. Think Audi allows you to turn it off permanently

In my former Alfa Stelvio & in my ‘20 Cadillac you must disengage it each time you start the car. In my wife’s new ‘20 Chev it is always engaged and you cannot turn it off. I hate the start/stop function, drives me crazy.

Since this thread has taken this turn, a brief tale....:

Years ago, as an American working in Switzerland, I pulled up to a red light, and low and behold, a car containing an elderly couple pulls along side and begins shouting in Swiss German. I don’t know what they said, but I’m certain it wasn’t pretty.

Later I discovered it was Swiss law to turn your vehicle off at a red light stop. I’d violated sacrosanct law without realizing it.....

So you can blame the Swiss, not the Italians, for the autostop.

I think it's due to some EU regulations - on my 2015 488 one can turn it off once and for all (which I did just after getting the car), but it has been changed in more recent cars.

Yes it has to be turned off every time you start the engine using a button up by the rear view mirror. You can no longer permanently disable. I think it is all due to some regulatory BS

Guess keeping my 458 has turned into a better and better decision. For my F8, guess I hope 2 solutions come down the road (exhaust option and a way to disable this). While cars will continue to get faster and faster........it is going to come at the cost of things like these 2 items...........Since all great music came form the 80's (IMO!).........maybe history will show all great cars came before 2020!

The auto start is an inconvenience but hardly sufficiently significant to dissuade one from purchasing the car.

Speak for yourself. It’s definitely significant enough to dissuade me from purchasing.

I respectfully disagree. It is a major PITA.

I wonder how much fuel that car consumes on startup versus idle.

I suppose we could argue small versus major. My wife’s Merc has the feature, and apologies to you, but it’s one more distracting feature that detracts from the driving experience. I suppose if you’re a pilot, and bring a checklist, then you could consider it minor.

Seatbelt, check, mirrors, check, seat adjustment, check, auto disable off, check.....
