Door edge trim is a great idea and very inexpensive at auto parts stores. But only covers the edge...he may want to entirely cover the metal bar.

I used edge trim on the bottom edge of my lift ramps. They don't touch the floor but you bump into them sometimes (not that much room with the door closed) or the wife opens her trunk and it hits the ramps if she is under. It works great.

FYI: To prevent shorting the battery or causing sparks when installing or uninstalling, follow these instructions.

Uninstall: Remove ground first, positive second.
Install: Connect positive first, ground second.

Don’t judge me. Rubber coated electrical glove wrapped around the bar and the rest was used to cover the terminals. More pictures coming. What a pita

Nothing wrong with that at all. My old battery I had an autozone rubber terminal cover that didn't fit at all...but it did the job. I changed my clamps to these.

I’m happy with the odyssey battery actually. Even though I feel like I have to shoe horn it in there - it works. Lol :)

Just wanted to share that I took inspiration from you and did the same thing when replacing my battery just now. Taped the bar with electrical tape and squeezed in an Interstate MTZ-34R AGM battery in there..

I realize this is an old thread and maybe a dumb question here, but is there a max cold cranking amps I should look for? It looks like there are group 48 AGM batteries with 800 (optima yellow top), 760 (various brands), and 730 (various brands). Based on the photos and what I can find locally, I was planning to use the Optima Yellow Top with 800 cca but wasn't sure if this would damage the car with the higher starting amperage.

I've had two Optima red tops leak....it was discussed in another thread and a Ferrari tech has had them leak and posted photos as well. I would avoid Optima, yellow or red.
Higher CCA is not a problem if it will fit. I'd select one of the 760CCA options. East Penn is a reliable brand and also private labels for other retailers...check my post #12 in this thread. I've also had good luck with Odyssey

Okay thanks I appreciate it. Yes all the branding makes this a little confusing to me. I currently have a 730cca group48 battery which is a lead acid battery so I figured the 760 would be good.

    Just get the antigravity....
    https://antigravitybatteries.com/products/starter-batteries/automotive/ag-t6-rs/

The new T6 is almost an inch shorter than the H6, so you have better clearance to that bar... Let's not mention the 30lbs weight savings. Mine's been sitting for almost a month now in a cold garage, with car locked and battery connected, went out the other day, battery was at 13.2V, 92%.... they are great.
... and no leaking ever, no gases, no problems!

BTW, in descending order of performance and life, here are the top rated Group48 batteries as tested by Consumer Reports:
    1) Odyssey 48-720 $260
    2) Optima H6 yellow top (which is not the spiral design like the red tops that leak, so maybe these are okay) $290
    3) Interstate MTX-48/H6 $185 (this is the least expensive of the four AGM listed here) (it had a slight down grade on CCA, with a rating of four out of five)
    4) Interstate MT7-48/H6 $260
They tested others, but these are the four that they recommended and all were top rated for expected life.

Thanks this is a very helpful summary. I was planning to use the Optima because of the higher cca and that I can find one locally easily. I am planning to use this one: https://www.batteriesplus.com/productdetails/OPT7048=148=ASC?storecode=272&locationofinterest=&locationphysical=9022879&utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=ecommpla&gclid=CjwKCAiAg6yRBhBNEiwAeVyL0PXv3_rfjx4rI1bVZtardjoo-pCK87zTIGsvZfed5LPmjcKmIF9b6RoCTnUQAvD_BwE

I’ve always been a fan of the Optimas and currently have a red top in my Mini that’s about four years old. I returned a yellow top that I had in my Highlander after it stopped accepting a charge in less than six months. After that experience I’m now staying away from the Optimas. The Duracell Ultra Platinum AGM Group 34R battery in my 430 is about 4.5 years old and still going strong (knock on wood).

The correct size for a 360 is T6/L2, but I’ve been unable to find an AGM in that size. H6 is close but a bit tall. Antigravity has a perfect fit T6/L2, if you want to go lithium ion.

If that is the case, then that crosses over to a BCI Group 91. There are a ton of choices in that size. Both Duracell and AC Delco offer AGM in that size. The AC Delco is made by Varta of Germany...same company that oems for most of the German car companies. My BMW has two Vartas in it.

I do note it is over 1/2" shorter than a Group 48 H6 so should be helpful in a 360, if clearance is an issue.

Group 48 H6 seens to fit fine in 430s. Group 49 H6 as a class have a bit more CCA too over the BCI 91. 750 to 760 versus 700 to 725.
