Looking at an FF with this option on the sticker at a price of $2k. Can anyone tell me what this option is? Does it have anything to do with car play?

Can you post more details or the ad itself, window sticker should show CarPlay

I dunno who uses an iPad in a car versus iPhone tbh

    NO it does not.

Carplay was only available on late FFs, I think it was only 2015-2016.

The Ipad option you stumbeld on is only for rear SEAT entertainment with, if I remember correct, powercable to the rear side of front seats headrests. Or something like that. I do not think it is worth anything today....

This is a 2015. Any way to retrofit CarPlay?

Better off replacing with top of line pioneer. Will sound 10x better. Search my posts as I just did it.

There is a way to retrofit Apple Car Play with a new Ferrari approved genuine accessory infotainment unit. I can get you the part number tomorrow if you wish.

However, what ttforcefed said is the way to go - the aftermarket option is the better route to go.

    Likely another consideration.

New Pio unit can probably be updated by the manufacturer whereas the Ferrari unit will get no such update I suspect.

So bugs can get squashed as they find them...
