    All the best,

This tool worked like a charm, no cable unraveling problems what so ever. I loosened the window motor (shims fell out, evidently was shimmed to align cable to door pulleys) slipped the tool onto window motor cable spool , then removed nuts and took motor out.
The grease was like epoxy as everyone says. Took the gearbox apart, cleaned and re-lubed with white grease and reassembled. Now the window goes up in about 5 seconds vs 5 miles, Yahoo!!!

    Hi Bill,

it's always great to get such feedback. Thank you.
And thanks for mentioning the possibility of slipping the tool onto the spool prior to removal. So far I have only used it to hold the cable on the spool after disassembly and prior to refitting the motor.
But using the tool before you remove the motor seems to make the whole task even easier.

Best Regards from Germany and thanks again
    Martin

Hi Martin, I realize this is an old thread, but are the window spool clamp tools still available? I'm doing a 1975 GT4 and that little tool you created would really be a help! Please let me know..Thanks!

Basically they are still available. I actually have a few immediately available. I need a full adress AND a phone number AND a valid e-mail adress. Shipping overseas and customs regulations have somewhat gotten more difficult since a certain election :)

If I know where you are I can look what's the best shipping method and give you a quote.

Best Regards and Thanks in advance

    What do you mean? :)
If you refer to my tools, see my reply on Tim's (ZOOOOMs) inquiry and please give me all the shipping infos I need.

Best from Germany and thanks in advance
