I’ve noticed my right low beam headlight does not light up when first switched on. After a couple minutes then turning the switch off then back on does the trick and it stays on until switched off. Any one had experience solving this issue?

    Thanks

Weird. If it's the same as the 550, there is just one low beam headlight relay with a single output (which goes to both low beam headlight fuses).

It may simply be the lamp itself getting tired or a bit of corrosion on the lamp contacts. Also check the ground if you can find it. Try swapping the left and right lamps.

In addition to what Ian has recommended, some 575M's were blessed with HID lighting, and it may be that the ballast for that lamp is getting tired.

My car has the HID lighting so could be ballast but easy to try swapping R - L bulbs first. Thanks!

From the parts diagrams, it looks like the ballasts are right and left specific part numbers. Not sure about the ease of swapping but I like the idea.

Do the ballasts need to be removed to access the headlight bulbs?

The whole ballast assembly and shroud may have different part numbers for left and right, but just the ballast (metal-cased) itself may only have one part number.

It looks like you have to remove the ballast assembly anyway, to get to the lamp:

They sure did not make it easy to get to the low beam bulbs. And yes those screws look a little funky. I would like to know what kind of driver I need to undo them.

Looks like you'll need a combination of allen(hex) and torx (security) bits with a 1/4" socket.

    Readily available online.

Thank you. Good to know. I have not had the chance to address this yet. Fortunately, it has only been it's been an intermittent issue.

Working of switching either headlight ballasts (or bulbs) R/L dto diagnose my issue of right low beam occasionally not illuminating when switched on. I was able to remove the ballast but it looks like the black wire from the ballast is not meant to be disconnected at the ballast side. Also, there is no access to the actual bulb from the inside of the ballast housing. I can't see how to get access to the bulb side of that black cable to disconnect it there or to swap bulbs.

Would appreciate any advice in how to access the low beam xenon bulb.

    Thanks!
