    it’s a nice piece.

but never understood why the flange connection on one side and not the other?

i bought nouvalari ypipe at probably 1/3 the cost.

probably for ease of installation is my guess.... this was an impulse buy, cost was just a bit higher than the Fabspeed, so I justified the purchase. Seen the Nouvalari Y pipe for the 2.7. Mine is a 5.2. Little if any performance gain I imagine, but I'm a sucker for eye candy, if I can afford it.

definitely for installation- the fabspeed & Larini are single piece and require removal of the primary cats which is a pain.

I think I'm going to give it a Swain Tech "White Lightning" ceramic thermal coating to help keep temps in the engine compartment down with the more exposed pipe length.

I'm planning on getting the 'Spiral type' Kreissieg Y-pipe for my 2.7 car and doing the same coating.

Anyone have an idea if the secondary cat delete affects California smog tests? The exhaust only runs through the Y-pipe at higher RPM when the valve is open, correct? Is this measured during smog testing?

I don't know all the details of California emissions testing but thought I read they do a visual inspection of components. Having secondary cats replaced with a cat delete pipe would likely fail you if that is the case.

California requires that all OEM components be in place; they can even fail you for an aftermarket CAT. Whether or not the test center would notice on your particular car, I couldn't say.

Got the 2.7 version Y-pipe last week. I'm in Japan for an assignment (yes I know) and so got a good deal on the price + shipping. I'll have it ceramic coated and painted in black so it will match nicely in the engine bay.
