    Looking at a 98 355F1 Red/Tan out West with 9800 miles.
    Will drive it today.
Anything in particular I should be looking for (all the service paperwork seems to be available)?
    Price range?
Had a 99Spider back in a day and always loved that car.

Thanks for suggestion and help on this potential purchase ;)

Stickies and service records. I have owned three gated and two F1. Loved them all. F1 is a fine car. Just check condition and service.

Yes they all should be crushed shouldn't they.

Jesus there's more Sticks than flappy paddle 355s. It's a car **** can break so what. Your opinion and that's fine but ********. Being difficult is different than just being junk and its not hard to deal with, don't want expensive issues with your Ferrari don't buy one.

Also the aftermarket can fix the F1 I mean someone needed to as the F1 **** is in everything now.

I wouldn’t trade it for anything love the f1.
It’s a 355 expect to have some issues. My process is as follows
    Car has an issue
    Fix car
    Drive car
    Smile
    Repeat

Why not just buy the F1 and then convert it. I think there’s a thread on that somewhere.

Seriously just go drive one and if it’s set up decent you will love it.

Do we have an update on the rumour that someone was making replaceable solenoid valves for the power unit? That would take away some of the worry of F1 ownership.

After spending A$27,000 on a manual gearbox repair, whatever we buy, we always have to be prepared for the worst.

The solenoid valves are the only part that is really a concern.

The hydraulic actuator is second, but I believe there is a repair for that now....correct?
Electric motor and pump are available
    Accumulator bulb is known
The rest are just electrics like the upgraded relay.....

I’ve seen enough at the mechanic to know better. Owning a 355 has plenty of challenges, Eliminating the F1 option is one less thing to deal with.

I wouldn't let the F1 transmission hold you back from buying the otherwise perfect spec car for yourself...that said, manual will of course be less things to go wrong.

There are companies that will rebuild your entire F1 system to factory or better spec for less than the cost of what the pump alone used to cost 10 years ago.

It’s funny there was one there that the customer eventually just had him convert to manual. I love the 355, but as a owner I know they can be a handful, I’m merely suggesting the buyer save himself additional headaches.

So the answer is you have never owned one and don't actually have any first hand experience.

    That correct?

Let it warm up really good at idle to see how the pump holds up

I owned a egear LP640 roadster which became a thorn in my side. I assume you own one and want everyone else to join you?

I test drove several because the lower price was intriguing, but ended up with a manual. The way they drive wasn’t any of the things you mentioned. But I’m glad you enjoy it.

I said nothing of the sort...and why would that compare in some form or fashion to a 355?

PS, if that was some sort of ego slam, I suggest you check yours at the door.
