This post isn't about bashing the otherwise very fine, reliable and reputable vendors. It's about showcasing the most egregious examples of having a part sourced from the manufacturer of our beloved cars.
This part was listed in one of the sponsors web site and I had to inquire if it were for multiple pieces or for a single. Alas, it was for a single.
I am replacing and cleaning up the upper shock mounts on my F355 getting ready for some new MCS dampers. I wanted to replace the 8mm thread x 28mm studs that hold the upper shock mount to the chassis.
The per piece part using the Ferrari part number was $33.03 each. That would equate to $528.48 to replace all 16 needed for the front and rear. I found a source for the same spec stud at .72 each for a total of $11.52.

Hmm I replaced those from ricambi and the price was no where near that. Maybe the price went up after I bought them.

It's not just new parts. How about $500 for used plastic cover for the back of the taiilight assembly on a 348 that was $56 new.

Of course $3500 mafs sucked too.

That's funny ever price one these days? The job is not too bad I read but if you need lines or pumps it's pretty much Ferraris like.

The 3/8" wide little leather strip on the inside of a 355 Spider's door panels. I was quoted somerhing like $288 for this a couple of years ago. This thing should be no more than $25.

I am used to it I run a lot of caterpillar equipment.
That’s what I love about the internet.
Jeff if your paying attention put the part number and replacement info in the sticky for interchangeable parts source thread we will all thank you when we do the same thing.

Funny you should mention Caterpillar. As I recall, when my A/C compressor started leaking on my 348, a check of the make and model # showed the same unit was used in some Caterpillar equipment. I think it cost around $150.00 although I did have to switch the belt pullies.
The ABS pump and accumulator cost $$$$ with a horsey on them, but same units are chump change from an older Ford product.
Yes, according to legend, we have the Ferrari price tax to thank for inspiring Mr Lamborghini to start making cars, but I don't see many bargain parts prices there either.
Take home lesson: exotic car means exotic parts prices, but wise shopping can sometimes save a bundle for those bits that aren't Ferrari exclusive.

Thanks Jeff but I had to add it to the
“355 interchangeable parts source thread”. Not the general sticky
Each 1 of those red links is for either 348 or 355 specific

The general one really should not have any posts so it’s confusing
