Ferrari F8 Tributo

Ron Tonkin GT in Portland, OR, now the oldest Ferrari dealership in the USA, has their demo car this week. I put my deposit down last May hoping for the best. We have some very dedicated Ferrari owners in the region and was not optimistic an allocation would be available in 2020. Today I was amazingly surprised to learn that I have June allocation! The car should arrive in early Fall. Attached is Ferrari Configurator image of what has been specified. Other than getting my very first new Ferrari, I am very excited about showing the car at the National FCA Concours in July 2021 in Portland!

Demo car Frankfurt, test drove yesterday with just 104 kms on odometer. First impressions: Silent (way too..), smooth, competent.

Looks stunning! I have a testdrive scheduled in a fortnight.

Is it really that silent? What feeling does it give you compared to 458?

My current plan is to order F8 (2 year waiting) and pickup 458 in meantime.

 

You can thank EU emissions and noise regulations for that....

 

Feels more refined, insanely powerful but rather subdued overall.
To be fair they gave me a zero mileage car and I did respect that. Also, there was too much traffic for a realistic verdict.
Hopefully, mine will arrive in June and I will be able to get a better impression.
But overall, I would suggest a 456 is quite more raw and this one is more polished an every way. I can see why many prefer a Pista.

 

The F8 is actually 5db louder than the 488

 

Is it? Inside or out... I’m surprised if this the case.

 

Lol you got that part wrong buddy. If you’re just taking about inside the cabin then so be it. You can turn up the speakers in Tesla and generate more dBs inside the cabin than a 488...

Odd question - can you take a photo of the rear turn signal flashers/hazzards lights? I’m curious if US cars have amber or red rear flashing lights.

 

This is dealer demo car in Denver. (Was there today). I can try next time I am over there (not sure when that will be).

 

No worries. I thought this may have been a customer delivered car. The dealer demo cars are actually euro spec cars.

 

I don’t think so. The car they had in November was (no antenna on top). But their demo car does. I believe it is US spec. Ride was also a little higher.

I got an invitation from Ferrari last week to fly to Maranello for a 2 days extensive test drive of the Spider on twisty Italian roads on one day and second day (2 full days) on the track with the coupe.

I will get back with a full review once I've been to this event as 2 full days with the car (hopefully pushing it hard) surely will give me a fair impression of what this beauty is capable of and also a comparison with my old as dirt 458

But it's due in 20-21 May so still a loooooong way to go

Anyone else (I guess in Europe) who got this invitation as well and will go 20-21 May?

 

The difference being that the F8 doesn't use artificial sound from the speakers, but natural engine sound, channelled to the cabin. Your example is wrong.

 

here is another example in this video what I'm talking about in terms of discoloration. You can clearly see it at about 1:08 in the video.

 

Does not look like that in person. I just spent 30 minutes looking at one yesterday and did not see this at all.
