Is this ugly weld normal on a $ 250 K + car or is this an indication of repair ? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here is a photo of mine. It still has the weld splatter (sloppy!), but looks a little neater than yours. Maybe the guy that did yours had too much wine the night before! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Take a look at the welds on an F40. You'll feel better. They are much better now than they used to be, but still a bit short of perfection.
The welds are free...The engine is what we pay for, or so its said. Good thing they are not welding high pressure steam.
Has anyone ever broken an ugly Ferrari weld? As a child I spent a lot of time with my grandfather, a poor self taught mechanic. He could weld with a stick welder, ugliest darn welding you ever saw compared to modern robotic welding. Nothing he welded ever broke or failed from fatigue. I am not defending Ferrari here, just pointing out that it works and has no real need to be beautiful as it is hidden from all but the most demanding perfectionist. Reminds me of my grand father so thanks for pointing this out. At least the engine comes with the welds.......lol......
I don't think that the OP was so concerned about it's ugliness. I think he was just trying to confirm that it wasn't repaired from an accident.
