No problem John. Further investigations have thrown up the a second invoice between MC and IMS Ltd regarding the perspex headlight covers, the invoice to Sir William, and the receipt referencing the warranty claim. I'll try and scan these and the others over the weekend. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thankyou, Christian, that's very kind of you. It would be interesting to hear something of the history of your father's dealership, too.
It was a short period - 1971 to 1975, and I was very young at the time! I'm sure others will have a far better knowledge and understanding of the period and the workings of Ferrari and Maranello Concessionaires. My memories are of the cars (looking back, what a remarkable childhood), and the many friends made at the time. I have pulled together a pdf with the cars sold over the period. It would probably make sense to create a separate thread for it and give a brief background to what I know of the history of the dealership/distributor.
Hello Marcel, I´m since 26 years the Owner of # 01706. I received from the previous owner the history of the car which you investigated in 1993. Can you please confirm if the the missing details are correct? Original exterior color: Argento 106-E-1. Original interior color: Nero 161 Skai. Engine # 7229 or 658 (both on nthe engine) Gearbox # 823/M. Scaglietti body #294 Thanky a lot Nico Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
01712 is listed with Scaglietti body #294 M. 01706 is listed with Scaglietti body #292 M. 0007229 is the Fiat engine number. 9 March 1971 is the completion date. New to Crepaldi in Milan, first owner Società Fans S.r.l. Marcel Massini
Yes I do. Please first post photos showing chassis number, chassis tag, body number (trunk lid hinge), engine number, gearbox number. Is it still Rosso Bordeaux 20-R-351? Marcel Massini
Strange, will check for other Scaglietti Body Numbers beside the dash board... Does mentioned engine and gearbox No fit to factory delivery? This would help me a lot to know
The car has been black since it was painted by a previous owner - probably 1981. It's in cold storage, so I can't take all the pictures. Here are some: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's 1712's bulkhead when I removed the Nero vinyl a few years ago. Also the expansion tank bracket. Image Unavailable, Please Login ... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hm, it would be funny if a picture from the dash underneath could show that you have the one which was dedicated for my car. I´m sure that some parts were mixed during assembly.
When I restored my L-series, the number under the dash was off by one compared to all others on the car. Close enough!
Hi Marcel, Hope you're well and thanks for doing this for the group...very helpful. I'm new to the forum and I've jut agreed to the purchase of a Dino 01208. I was wondering you might be able to post the dets? Much appreciated. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Welcome on FerrariChat. 10 pages about #01208 here : https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/another-dino-on-bat.602937/
Wow, this is quite worrying! Extremely lucky to have this community to lean on. I was literally about to transfer funds on this car. Will ask for an explanation. Thanks a lot for bringing this to light.
I'll go over the ten pages again later. It seems that the main problem is with this chassis plate. Other members of the forum are likely to comment.
Thanks a lot. From what I read, seems there was no real resolution on this. I'll also fill in the community over here on what I hear back on this car to help clarify things, whether I end up buying or passing. It's only fair to whoever ends up owning this thing.
OK, take number 2 here! I walked away from 01208 for all the ambiguity surrounding this car and have purchased #01148. Fingers crossed folks! If anyone knows anything about this car, I'd love to know it. Thanks a lot everyone and I look forward to finally owning a Dino.
Congratulations for your acquisition. I'm sure you will enjoy this car like everyone else here. It would be great if you could post some pictures.
