hey guys, came here for some advice.and yes i know this has been debated forever. i finally got to the point where i can now afford one of my dream cars. 996/997 gt2 or a scuderia. now the hardest part is choosing which one I'm looking for some advice especially from people who have had some experience with both i am really looking for some unbiased opinion and what not,
I'm still tossing the idea around a 996/997 turbo i do love the looks of both so thats not a factor. the only reason why I'm considering the 996 is bc i do feel they will go up in value. however if i was to pull the trigger on a gt2 it'd most likely be the 997.

so with that being said. 997gt2 or the scuderia. I'm so torn on which one. the scudyrias weren't even an option however they came down in price a lot and now are an affordable car. my one draw back to the scuderia is the cost to fix when it breaks. thats really it.

as you can see I'm so lost its not funny lol any help would be appreciated

I think you need to drive an example of each. That may help you decide. Both are great cars, but different animals.

Can’t speak to a gt2 but did have a 997S and loved it too. Both models now have a few years on them and stuff breaks now and then.

Manual trans vs f1 trans might be a consideration.

For pure driving enjoyment, Scud no question. I love 911s but Scud is just on a different level. Have had 996, 997, 991 GT cars, all really great but the Scud has 2x the soul. Buy a good one, take care of it and they are relatively trouble free. Remember mezger 911s need coolant pipes pinned and have their flaws too.

I have a 996 gt2 but am always looking for the next car. Id like to keep it because it is so very special and rare.
I too have narrowed down "the next Ferrari" to a Scud, 16M or 360 CS.
IMO the 996Gt2 is just as special as those cars but unappreciated.....now.
That said a screaming 9k rpm naturally aspirated Ferrari is something I NEED ;)
I dont care really about 0-60 times all that much. Any of these will give an adequate thrill.
A 996gt2 is crazy fast enough. Some prefer it over the 997gt2cas it is more raw. I ran athread at rennlist on that subject and was surprised by the response of those that have owned .

Want a real race car ? Buy a Formula Vee.

I had a 997.2 GT3 and a Challenge Stradale. I literally never drove the GT3 and finally sold it to my best friend. Go for the scuderia.

I had a 997.2 GT3 for 5 years, and stored/exercised a friend's 997.2 GT3 RS. I sold the GT3 to buy a GT3 touring. I've had the scud 6 years, and I like it more. 997.2 GT's are all great cars though, just very different so it's best to try and get some seat time in them. Scud has been reliable with regular mainentance. Mostly just small things go wrong outside of normal maintenance in my experience. GT3 had less issues and was easier to work on, but all in the same ballpark.... Both would be special cars, so you can't go wrong with either.

You need to be able to answer 3 things:

    1. Manual or single disc transmission?
    2. High torque or high rev range?
    3. Do you intend to modify the car for increased performance?

All 430s and Scuds, including the 16M like mine, have single clutch transmissions. The first Ferrari to have a dual clutch system is the 458.

Correct but there was no reference to DCT. I was referring to the post that stated that scuds have a single disc. They don't they have a twin discs albeit in a single clutch. Pedantic maybe but saying the scud has a "single disc transmission" didn't seem right.

I'm looking at this one and the black one they have. i love the yellow but all the yellow interior might be to much for me. I'm trying to get over there but my sons coming like any minute, last thing i need is the phone call as I'm at a dealership lol.
