    Not sure you can tell, but this is with the spaced installed.

    I guess the point of the spacer is to stop the seal crushing the bearing when you torque is all down.

    I don't recommend a vice; use a dedicated seal seating tool, or a press.

    Thorn. You are correct. The vice idea was a bit crap. In my defense I did have a piece of solid metal between the seal and the vice so that it would (try) achieve an even pressure around the seal.....

    it popped right in there, so all good.

    Here it is with the nut and washer.

    I read it should be tightened to 15ft lb and then backed off to 11 ft lbs.

    Hope this is correct. It does not seem to be very tight ...

    As I have some time this week, I thought I would look at this. I mentioned earlier in the thread that the stupid plastic ears were broken.

    I thought originally that only one side was broken but both sides are.....

    there was a discussion on this earlier. There is another thread....let me see if I can find it.
