I think so too, Dino 206/246 -> 208/308 -> 348/355 -> 360/430 -> 458/488... Dino 208/308GT4 -> Mondial -> Maserati4200 -> California -> Portofino... Both dinos gave rise to the two access ranges...
The 4200 didn't originate with Ferrari it began with Detomaso as the 3200Gt project which Maserati under Fiat ownership brought to the market with a VERY long gestation period. Ferrari did make it a much better car but addled the poor thing with that god awful transaxle.
Well ... Not in origin but Ferrari did assist Fiat owned Maserati with engineering issues on that and getting the ZF based differential put into it as well the later Ghibli IIs. They also made some revisions to the Shamal's V8. I forget what?
The mid engine car Maserati is building is not a “Dino” type vehicle. It may very well be a direct threat to the F8, Maranello is not real happy with Maserati’s direction right now. Think the new Ferrari Roma is something that has been on Ferrari’s long term plans for years?
Funnily, it's kind of a swap between the genes of Ferrari and Maserati with the Roma and that 6C. Good that Maserati brings some sporty luster back to its image, the MC12 being more of a Ferrari than a Maserati.... A 6C "Trofeo" next step?
so there is going to be an electric maser and an ice sports car? ambitious agenda but hope it works out

Alfieri es cancelado. Nuevo D-Suv 2021 Nuevo GranTurismo 2021 Called MMXXI), Phev y Bev. Para 2020, este automóvil MMXX, para mí, es un rival de Cayman o Lotus Evora, también una variante BEV. Información oficial: https://media.maserati.com/en-ww/releases/1538
Yes we already knew that. Huge error. Electric Maseratis ... imagine the full throated exhaust opera emanating from those cars ... hang on tight to your old ones folks.
Despite what we instinctively feel for these electric things---they are nonetheless the future---and quicker than anything else. Look at the amazing Taycan! I will bet you anything that the electric Maseratis WILL sound awesome---one way or the other!
not necessarily. While government mandates are forcing manufacturers in that direction, consumers aren’t buying outside of a couple of zip codes in California which accounts for 25% of EV sales in the US. EV sales are only 2% of the market.
Presently we have no way to produce and distribute enough electricity for such a conversion which will take a very long time for the transition. Then there's the issue of producing it cleanly, actually cleaner than now. That's also one hell of a lot of batteries. I'll be dead by the time any of that ever happens ... if it happens at all. Just like self driving cars. So it's not really an issue for me. The ICE is going to be with us for quite some time albeit transformed. Perhaps hydrogen? Someday we could all be driving our own Hindenburgs ...
Obviusly is Maserati MMXX. A V6 2.9cc rear-mid engine, carbon fiber platform (project m240), on sale may 2020. First comment announced on the first page
