Question for the ferrari regulars If you own a ferrari f12 and you get the corrosion will ferrari step up and fix? I assume its a issue because a car i looked at the dealer had this problem.
There a large thread on this, its always worth doing a seach first. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/f12-paint-bubbling.547557/
Many cars had the issue but not all. The dealer should fix it beef you take ownership and it should be done to your satisfaction or pass. I was told and read that Ferrari will cover under the extended warranty.
i also have an F12 out of factory warranty. i would like more details on the preventative fix if anyone can provide it. the linked thread did not have that info.
My understanding is that there are spacers between the metal mesh and body which keep it from rusting. However Ferrari in their wisdom won't do that fix until there is a problem and they have to paint the area as well.
In my younger years i was in car stereo and alarm business so taking apart cars was easy . If not up to it a good body shop will do it ....since they take cars apart all the time.
I went ahead and scheduled a proactive fix. Basically they will insert plastic spacers between the mesh grill and the paint to eliminate galvanic corrosion. I dont know the cost but I am guessing between 1K and 2k. All labor. Interestingly I learned that the 812 has the same problem, Ferrari did not learn from the F12.
I made a offer today on 2013 f12. The car has no corrosion . if i buy i will tackle the mesh with washers right away.
gh another thought make sure when they release the nuts make sure they are aluminum. If not get aluminum material nuts.
Was this covered under a corrosion warranty? My F12 is out of factory warranty and I don't have the extended warranty. My car is a 2016 and is showing the bubbling now.
I "think" Ferrari has an extended warranty for corrosion but I am not certain. You should contact a local dealer and/or maybe someone else here knows.
Hi, did you end up doing the proactive fix? How involved it was? How much did it cost? Any bubbling since? Thanks Alex
I did the fix and while I owned the car it had no issues. If I recall it was under $1k in labor and took about a day and half.
Just bought a 2015 which had this issue around the mesh. Ferrari says they will only honor this as a warranty claim if I was the original owner..? Ferrari in Houston told me they had seen several cars with this issue. My car was sold by a Lamborghini dealership, hence they will fix it before I take the car. Hopefully it will not go beyond the mesh/rear vents... As soon as I get the car I will open it up back there to have a look and see if there are additional preventive steps to be taken.
