Well, working part time around work and family, one day's contact time can stretch to weeks. No way I could have done it in two days - I spent ages just thinking about the wiring.

Well, today I got to drive 24865 back from Charlotte after getting the suspension completely rebuilt. New shocks, ball joints, bushings etc. Had the belts done as well plus a few other minor fixes. Car now rides like it did in 78. Amazing difference. I guess it’s good to go for another 42 years. Almost 84K miles and still going strong.

Carb base gaskets (gas seepage) replaced, carbs reinstalled, performed carb synch (Birdman method). Tach read slightly above 1000 rpm, used my $16.00 Amazon purchased Digital laser tach. Very accurate. Placed reflective tape on crankshaft harmonic balancer. Read 829.9 rpm. At idle, Synchrometer readings good on all throats at 3 kg/Hr. Pulled throttle cable to 4 kg/Hr, same on all throats. Verified gas pedal stop allows for carb throttles to open to about 85+ degrees. Verified using endoscope in video mode. Now time to put air box back on.
I use the laser tach on my Distributor tester. Works great and very accurate.

While performing my 308 post drive engine inspection after lunch lunch yesterday, I noticed cylinder #3 exhaust sample tube had black markings on the tube showing exhaust leaking around the tube to manifold fitting. I removed it from #4 sample tube and the tube for #3 just slid out. Thinning of the tube near the retaining fitting. #1 and #2 were replaced two years ago by me. I inspected #4 and it does not look good.
So, I removed the air injection pump to get better access to number 4. I removed #3 retaining fitting. #4 is being a pain to remove, so PB blaster sprayed on it. Ordering the parts 113222 for #3 and 113223 for #4 on Monday.

Took it out for the first drive of 2020. We have had a relatively mild winter in the NE. It was nice to have her out so early.

So I decided to tinker with my US 85 QV. So I added a couple external LED lights. No drills no cutting on the sacred F parts. Bought a kit from Harbor Freight and all cost came out about $80. Now I can take her out more after dark.

Installed a charger for my GPS locator which has an installed battery. Battery charger from Amazon and used for dash cams $10. GPS module will hold charge for 10-14 days when fully charged. Charger installed automatically cuts off when battery voltage drops below 11.6 vdc. So, no there is worry about draining the battery. So, if 308 battery is disconnected, the GPS will still run for 2 weeks. Makes it easy to tell Police where my 308 is, if stolen.

70 degrees in NNJ. So its fluid change time.

    Oil done - Castrol 20w-50
Trans done - Redline NS (getting the lower fill 6mm plug out was a stinker. Very tight early on until 1/2 way out and then she loosened up & out. Odd. )
    Brake fluid is tomorrow
Coolant is tomorrow and I'm finally going to install Obertro's block petcock & front hose petcock from my purchase in 2016. Better late than never. His radiator & gooseneck auto-bleeders have worked like a charm.

the block & front Obertro's coolant drains are in! They were pleasantly easy to install. It should make the next coolant change a cake walk and certainly less messy.

A goodie bag from GT Car parts came today
    (2) new steering bellow/boots for my ripped ones.
a very rare "T" connector for the Exhaust gas system (forget the part #). I can pull off my Home Depot "T" jury rig :)
and a new fuel bib. those things never seem to last more than a couple years. :(

so tomorrow is bellow swap :) Then off she goes for a nice drive with our warm weather.

Took the 328 GTB out for a 60-miles spin this morning and to fill her up. The GTS will be treated the same way tomorrow, just to have been driven in case the Covid-19 catches yours truly and quarantines him. The GTB ran beautifully.

Found a kind of sporty leather jacket a few weeks ago, which color matches the beige leather of the seats rather well...

What seems to becoming an annual event: tracking down a coolant leak. Fortunately, the car passed a combustion leak test. So at least it isn't the head gaskets.

Replaced rear lid gas struts and finally removed the coolant tank which I suspect has a leak. Last several drives I’ve noticed a few drops of coolant up on top of the tank near a chip in the black paint. I wiped it clean and next drive it appeared again. I’ll take it to my radiator shop and have him check it out.
Getting a few things done while avoiding the crowds.....

I've seen those puff up like a balloon...I'd suggest a steel one instead.

Yeah I’ve seen them online but We’ll see what’s up with this tank before I make a decision to go non original. Thx
