I have a stock muffler for my project. I noticed the short inlet pipe is loose. Looking inside with the boroscope, I see a clean break as if it's a slipjoint as opposed to a break. I want to confirm before I open it up for welding. Anybody?

It would help to have more info, there were several mufflers used on GT4s. Year?, US spec?, thermo-reactor or conventional?
That being said I can't imagine any muffler with an internal slip joint.

wow I have my original one up in the garage attic , I never noticed that. I cant picture where it would be a slip joint,, in the era of emission controls.

It's a '75 with thermoreactor. Weighs about 500lbs. Probably a busted weld but just looks clean because I'm looking from the inside. I think I was just dreaming. Thanks for the kind replies.
