Recently had the opportunity to purchase a 360 steering wheel and just finished installing it on my F355 last night. Here are my observations: - The install was super easy and everything is 100% plug and play - No modification of anything is necessary - Only 2 tools required; T30 safety torx to remove airbag, and 5mm allen to remove wheel - The 360 wheel bolts directly to the existing hub - Horn and airbag connectors are the same - Steering wheel spacing (distance to driver) is exactly the same - Steering wheels are same outer diameter but 360 wheel has thicker grip - 360 wheel is probably half the weight of the 355 wheel - Feeling is drastically changed for the better!!! - Turned battery off first, installed new wheel, turned battery back on. No Airbag light. The install only took 30 minutes. I'm extremely happy with the new steering wheel and it really updates the look and feel of the interior. It also provides several pounds of weight savings so it's a performance mod too Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks fantastic, Brendan! Night and day.... Also nice to see that beautiful 355 out of lockdown. Hope all's well! Carmine
Too funny... I saw your first pic in the "pic today" thread, saw the 360 wheel on the chair, and was thinking "When the hell is Brendan going to install that airbag I sold him?" Glad it worked out. I always read on here how much better the car feels with a 360 wheel and had no idea just how much better until I put one on my car. Every 355 owner should at least consider it now that prices have come down a bit. Enjoy your car Brendan, it looks great.
575M wheel is another option. Identical to the 360 wheel except for separate horn buttons in silver. Airbags are the same part. Stock 575M wheel and my slightly modified one by MAcarbon. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
So are both the 355 and 360 airbag a single-stage design? By 99 or so, most manufacturers had gone to dual-stage airbags--and prior to that they were single stage. In the BMW world, this was a big, big deal with people trying to get rid of the four spoke US E36 M3 and E39 540i airbag steering wheels in favor of the later 3-spoke wheel found in the later cars, which were mostly two stage.
Do I need the clocking mechanism from the 360 wheels as well to do the install to the 355?? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Awesome thank you. Also while I got you here, can a 360 airbag be recovered in leather? I have access to one but it’s grey and I need it to be black. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I’m not sure it was mentioned but make sure you DISCONNECT battery with knob or your airbag light will need to be reset
Did anyone shed some light on this ? I am looking to purchase a steering wheel + airbag and have it redone as it is a different color leather
Yes, the airbag could easily be recovered in different leather because it is simply glued on, but you would need to find an upholstery shop with the embossing tools for the "SRS AIRBAG" script and most importantly willing to recover an airbag. Most upholsterers wont touch an airbag because if something they did to one could cause it in any way to deploy incorrectly and someone gets injured or killed from it, they could be liable for modifying a safety part.
