ok so the ash tray has been pulled out and the 2 screws that are supposed to be holding this assembly in are gone ( why they are even there I will never know the car could roll over and the damn thing would never come out)
anyway can't get the unit out of the center console
any tips on this might be done?
I have no power to the unit and yes I have checked the fuse behind the passenger kick panel its good
    its a tight fit

So how do you get access to the underside of the ashtray. Do you have to remove the whole centre console shroud?

    thanks
when I get home from New Orleans
    I will look at this
I think I just have to pull it out since the 2 screws are already missing

If you look at the diagram, there are 3 or more screws.

I am not so sure I see what you are seeing in the diagram
all I see is the 2 screws that hold the unit in and the screw that you will see once the assembly is removed

I guess having the ash tray in front of you makes it easier to see what's going on. The two screws you are referring to are numbered #26? What about number #28? That looks like a bolt coming from below.

Which item is this in the diagram?

Ok so here is the picture of the ash tray unit with the ash tray and door removed it snaps out, not easily but it comes out
You can clearly see the 2 rivets holding the unit in place and the pig tail electrical connection
I will have to slice off the 2 rivers to get to the electrical connector Which is underneath the unit
I removed the reverse gear panel thinking I could get to the connection from there
No dice, huge metal plate there which is riveted to, you guessed it the cigarette lighter
Why they riveted this is beyond me
The thing will never come out, even in a rollover crash!
Typical Ferrari, been working on these cars since 1986!!!
Once the 2 rivets are removed I can remove the unit and trace the circuit to see if it’s connected
Or what I might do is Dremel the opening bigger to see if I can get to the connection thru the opening
    Either way this is insane
    Will keep you posted

You should be able to pull the cigar lighter body out of the ashtray frame.

From the pics I see on eBay it looks like it might slide straight to the rear instead of up. Maybe the bolt #28 needs to be slacked off a bit, I don't know

Ok you now clearly see the 2 connections none of these were hooked up
I dremeled the two rivets out and was able to free the box to get to this
I have a functioning cigarette lighter now
The peanut bulb does work my guess it’s the bulb
Going to get a new one today but if it doesn’t light up it’s no big deal
I really just needed a socket to charge things and run my dash cam
This car had been worked on before because there was no reason to have rivets to secure the ash tray box
I found two screws and re installed the box properly

    Speaking of dash cams
2 Friday’s ago I was involved in a hit and run with my Honda
The dash cam saved the day needless to say
So I am installing one in the 575

ok when you look at the eBay part you see the 2 screw holes up top?
That’s all that’s suppose to hold this unit in
This was not the case with mine
Someone had been in my console previously and riveted the unit in with pop rivets
Non the less I am back operational
    Thanks for all your help

Bizarre (both for the plugs being disconnected and the additional rivets). I wonder if the rivets were to stop rattling or for additional strength? If the ash tray holder is plastic and is only secured by two screws, then constant opening of the ashtray may weaken the plastic around the screws (?).

What does the peanut bulb light illuminate on the 575? The lighter itself appears to have a light in it.. i.e. there is a translucent green collar there are 3 wires on the lighter plug.

Ouch. Did you get the offender's license plate number from the dashcam footage or did you just need general proof that someone else did the damage (for insurance purposes)?

actually the hit and run driver was run down by the car that she cut off
They subsequently came back to the seen if the accident and gave us and the officer the license plate number
The dash cam showed the entire accident
    The rest is history
    She was arrested etc

ok so the peanut light only comes on when the headlights are on !
so I didn't know this since I never has a functioning cigarette lighter in the 575
subsequently I thought the little bulb had burned out
    it had not
anyway all is well with the stealth 575 now
have a trip to Meridain Ms at the end of the week in the car
    until then
    575 on the move !!!
