My first post here, I bought this 1993 348GTB last week, I am enjoying a few summer blasts before it goes in for its major service in a few weeks time.....Its getting the works.. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Welcome!! I'm not normally one for aftermarket anything; but I do like those gold split rims!!! Do your homework on the major service and be prepared for the "whilst we are here" Mines in having major and belts at the moment!

Thanks for the welcome. Yes I like the rims as well, I think they really suit the car. I have done literally weeks of research on the major service, its all second nature to me being a Automotive Mechanic in a previous life. I will indeed be doing a lot of "while we're in there" things to it. Like the oil pump drive tensioner etc etc...I want the upgraded water pump, the one which doesn't suffer cavitation, the Hills engineering bearings idlers etc....Might as well do all the seals, check the valve clearances as well.... I will throw a new clutch at it too. Basically give it a nice big birthday. Its got 48,000kms on the clock, so its not horrendous miles but definitely due for some serious work.
Thanks, yes very pleased with it, I think I got it for a good price, very limited market for them here in New Zealand. I'm intrigued in you saying its rare, can you give me some more details? I was aware of the later Euro ones having more power, is it being a Berlinetta which makes it rare in 1993? Chassis number is #96396 if that helps.
Well, very rare if it's a GTB, and less rare if it's a tb. Does your motor have the taller intake plenum? That's a first visual indication of a F119H motor, and possibly a GTB. Here's a great thread on the differences. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/anyone-here-actually-own-a-348-gtb-gts.405011/
Thanks for that link, very interesting. According to my VIN, it definitely has a F119D(L), but it does have that lower final drive ratio, no doubt about it. Also the gearbox is a smooth shift, doesn't have the 2nd gear cold issue at all, it has the Nippon Alternator and starter, basically everything a GTB has except the engine. My VIN also identifies it as a tb not a GTB, but it does have the GTB badge on the back..... I'm not complaining at all, the car is a solid runner, everything works in it, she drives really well, there is not even one minuscule oil leak.....and it has a Kreissieg exhaust which most certainly lets a few extra horses out of the box.... So apparently mine is a Left Hand Drive European Model, Non Cat.
That's awesome. As are all 348s. Sounds like someone applied the incorrect badge at some point. Easy fix. Bonus, Euro cars, like my Canadian car, don't have those crazy automatic seatbelts.
First GTB was sn 96655, so you're a still a bit off from being a GTB, and as you mention your VIN shows F119D and has earlier plenums. So yours is a tb, and is likely a late 1992 or very early 1993 production date. For comparison, my car is 94472 and has a May 1992 production date. But don't let this detract from your purchase. A euro 348tb is a very nice machine indeed!
Indeed, I love my 348, and well worth educating myself on the in's and out's of tb/ts vs GTB/GTS......and interesting afternoon...
And you must have most of the GTB/GTS modifications as your 348 was issued in 93 !! Anyway, enjoy it, it’s a wonderful car. I love driving mine around Paris
