You had IPE on the car so you know how good Speciale's can sound. Barring sound though I do think Pista's are the superior car. It's just too hard to pass up the symphony of an NA V8.

That makes sense. That was also my thinking when the Pista was first announced. It had incredible beauty in its design, however, I honestly did not have interest in it given in my other car turbo supercars, sound was never the attraction -- in a Ferrari, I felt that was of equal importance as the aesthetic design.

While at a car event last summer, I was finally able to see the Pista in person. The owner had arrived from a spirited drive, and the sound of the Pista decelerating as it was pulling into the parking lot really stirred my emotions and got me excited about the car again. It had a aural presence even at idle that was much different than other turbo cars that I had heard, and seeing it in person validated that I needed to take another look.

I chanced upon an incredible opportunity to go to Corso Pilota Sport, and it was just my luck that there was a fleet of Pistas available for students to drive. I spent a lot of time in and around the car, and I can say the Pista has so much presence.

Another interesting thought and emotion that started to sink in was that the Pista is leagues faster than the Speciale. While the Speciale sound is just unmatched, it felt like the IPE Ti exhaust was shrieking at the top of it's lungs on freeway onramps in a fashion that didn't feel as effortless to get to speed as I remembered before that Corso Pilota course. I suppose that's the purpose of those courses: customer paid marketing.

Anyway, having lived with the Speciale as a part of our garage, occasional family outings, coffee chats with friends, and in our car community, I am happy with the idea that someone out there can experience what it has to offer. I do already miss walking out to the garage every morning to go to work and seeing that red car cover beckoning me to take the Speciale out. I do not miss walking passed it into the cold or rain to jump into my car on the driveway now that I temporarily have garage space!

Perfect! Rosso Fuoco with a different rendition of the stripe in Aluminio Lucido and Nero. Can see the subtle details on the interior with red leather lower dash and stripe on steering wheel. Very happy with it....as far as I know. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Ok, of course the Fuoco is 'fabulous' but that stripe.....that is super tasteful! Was that just an extracamp option or did you do tailor made? Did you have to get factory approval for that? Added cost?

It's so funny because there is a huge mystique in the ordering process. There are the routine menu 'options' the full out custom Tailor or Atelier builds, but there is a lot of flexibility in between that few of us take advantage of. The cost is frequently NOT that outrageous to create a truly customized piece (like that stripe). Wish the process were a bit easier/transparent but it is what it is. Thanks for any light you shed on it and congrats on the build. Just wow!

Thanks for the compliments! Nothing Tailor Made here, though is suppose it is extracampanario. My dealer special requested the stripe color layout and we didn’t know if it would happen until I saw the latest pic. I wanted Liquid Metal Silver, but it is unavailable now, so Maranello recommended the Aluminio Lucido. So yes, factory approval, and I’m sure extra cost, though I am not sure what it will be. I can’t imagine too terrible since they had to paint the stripes anyway, regardless of color.

On the interior, I requested a red leather lower dash to compliment the red leather accents, and also contrast stitching to the point of any black alcantara having red stitching, and any red leather having black stitching. Never heard a no from the factory, so will see what shows up.

That's great way to do it. I individually spec'd deviated stitching as you suggested and it was only a few hundred bucks an item. It's a great feature that others will barely notice but you will every time you get in the car.

i've had my concerns that that coronavirus will start to affect production in italy. hoping that things out there are alright and that business continues, especially sea freight.
