Why is it some journalists and filmakers "pretend" Ford won LeMans in 2016?

It mentions at th end of the review that Ford took LeMans in 2016, handily 50 years after wnning in '66.

but if you look up the results on Wikipedia they say the winner was Porsche

Oh there's a Ford GT in 18th place at race end but that's a helluva way from first overa;ll. That's like saying the Germans won WWII when they won the Battle of Dunkirk.

I wish it were so, it's such drama when you say "And they came back 50 years later and won again" but if wishes were horses beggers woudl ride. And it makes newcomers to the car world feel foolish when they believe their Ford fan frends that Ford won in 2016. Never happened. Get over it.

 

but i still say if you point out a car to a non car guy and you say "that's the kind of car that took first at lemans in '66 " he doesn't want qualifiers , he is presuniing by first you meabt first across the finish line. Wishfull thinking abd deliberate mis-direction to say the Ford GT won at LeMans in '66.
