Hi, My car just failed it's MOT (inspection) for the handbrake not working properly with less than 50% efficiency. Well the car has done 39 miles since previous MOT when this issue was addressed and in fact new rear brakes were fitted. So nothing should have come loose or need adjusting in practise. Of course it is a 456 ....I am wondering if the tester is not applying correctly...... Thanks
It's not unusual to have to readjust the handbrake shortly after new pads are fitted. Remember this should be done with a screwdriver through apertures in the disc, not by tightening the cable. At least this is normal practice on old Lancia, which all have the same system the 456.
