That's a great question, I think it's at the point of sale where it makes the most difference, I don't think there is a given formula but I know of $50,000 being witheld off the price at point of sale because of missing books in one instance a few years ago, it might be much more now, however these circumstances may be different, meanwhile I'm not sure 58339 is for sale, and if it's not, it all depends on if the current owner cares.

Why am I not surprised. I flat out offer rationale and rationality, and am inexplicably dubbed irrational. I stand resolute with my position in this thread, and that purpose-burdened determination will be timeless. I can return to this thread in a decade and feel nothing but pride that I stood with the naked truth, even at the cost of 'friends'.

Since this thread is already circling the drain....I would suppose that a few observations are in order:

    1. Carbon made a point the 135564 was completely restored by Ferrari. I don't see anyone arguing the point. I'm pretty sure that no one cares other than Carbon since Ferrari has a legal right to conduct restoration activities as they see fit.

    2. Carbon has a beef with Marcel. To most of us it looks like a lot of hate is flowing from Carbon's direction. Of course we don't know the back stories and frankly most of us don't really care about that either. What looks really unhealthy is that one Fchat member is using Fchat as a megaphone to throw insults and accusations at another Fchat member who is respectfully not responding.
In my opinion....that crosses the line.

    3. Carbon gets angry and insulting at anyone who disagrees. Again not productive.

Just my opinion. I don't have 40,000 posts but I do know that Fchat has been a great resource for me. Joe and Marcel have been very helpful.

mods, pls close this thread, or at least eliminate or reposition the petty arguments between the various 'experts'.

this threads original purpose to report, and then to eventually track what happens to the f40 that caught fire in monaco, has been lost in this sea of bs.

I'm really wondering now if the F40 owner will get a brand new F40 with the old VIN plate attached? It's the one that caught fire if anyone forgot.

It's too old, the factory doesn't have new old stock F40 parts laying around. But someone will likely convert this to an LM-spec F40.

I don't know that I would've worded all of it like that, but it wasn't entirely inaccurate.

I wonder if a fire extinguishing installation like in this video should have saved that F40.

Rather than berate anyone that questions your viewpoint, even when like myself I was adding factual information to the debate as to what legally constitutes a rebuild, then simply answer this question.

As the accuser, what proof do you have (and can share here) that no components at all from that wreckage shown in your photographs are present in the car as it now currently stands?

I can see many that could have been refurbished/re-used, so unless you were present when it was dissected at Ferrari and then re assembled into a new chassis I fail to see how you can stand by your accusations, fall back option from that would be a signed declaration from someone involved in the rebuild that confirms your accusations.

Without any of that, then your view is simply, that, "your view" and holds about as much water as anyone else expressing their opinions on this thread.

To bring it back to the actual F40 to which the thread originally started about, there is also plenty on that hulk that could be re used, and the missing bits are all still out there, maybe not with Ferrari but with the specialists.

The owner of Eurospares had a standard F40 for sale not that long ago that rose from very few mortal remains of the original car. Companies like Simpsons have also done the same in the past, and Dave Gilmours F40 suffered a similar fate to the OP F40 and is whole once again.

That's cool, so far as they don't try and claim it's an original LM.

Even though the factory themselves cannot reconstruct this F40, I believe that under the auspices of their Classiche program they can outsource a rebuild via one of their affiliates, this is the way I would go, bring it back to exact original spec with sliding plexi windows, personally I would skip the whole LM resto-mod idea.

No, I wasn't there, so I can't say either way. But Ferrari has done this with other Enzos - Enzos that burned to the ground and literally nothing was left. Have you ever heard of Gary Eisenberg? His Enzo burned to the ground - unfortunately with him inside of it - and I mean it was completely engulfed in flames, with not a salvagable square inch on it. Dahr Jamail is another example of this, although, thankfully, he didn't die - but his car burned to the ground. Stefano Sidoli is another one - his car was completely destroyed just like 135564. Suleman Kerimov! So, no, I wasn't at the factory, standing over them, watching everyone's every move. But Ferrari has done this before - and if they reuse salvagable parts, why is the original engine from Eisenberg's Enzo in Connecticut, where it's registered as an entire car and that it's red, when the car that wears its VIN is black and was last seen in Germany? But, of course, the Classiche certification alleges the car was rebuilt.

Here is Gary Eisenberg's Enzo after it burned down. Do you think this was rebuilt? With what original parts?

I have just run across this thread.....I'm speechless......

ross, and others are correct, most of the drivel posted here in long winded verbose diatribes, would be best on a PortaCan wall, in Sharpie.
It's total conjecture and personal opinion, what happens to this VIN after it goes on the wrecker.

It's between the vehicle owner and Ferrari.
In that case, to correct our gadfly "expert" the (Enzo) Title was in Joe Jamail's name.
Speak ill of him at your own peril......

    Jesus, I need a shower.....
Thanks Yin, for your actions.....maybe wipe every post of his out of here, that does not relate to the SUBJECT at hand...

He's humorous only in that he feels he's "catching" Ferrari at something, with his VIN train spotting.

    No one cares.
