Meanwhile total mismanagement at US airports as flights from Europe arrive: a few days ago when flights to the US were still open to everyone there were absolutely zero health checks and now they have gone the other way and are checking everyone which is good BUT causing massive lines where people are herded in close proximity which is just the THE wrong thing to do as anyone contaminated in those crowds will contaminate even more, total mismanagement:

I agree 100% but at the same time, all these people were already exposed to each other on planes for 5 hours or more during the flight. Yep, the pictures don't look good, but what can you do with 500 or more people unloading off a plane at the same time? Where are you going to put them? Tell them to go stand 6ft apart in the parking lot? Unfortunately, all these people knowingly put themselves at risk when they boarded the planes. Some things just aren't manageable in a way we would prefer.

If we had wanted to be in charted waters, we would have closed out boarders about Jan 15.
2 months late on an epidemic is bad enough, in a pandemic is is simply water and people under the bridges.

Tifosi, the EU's no US but that's somewhat like closing US state borders.

The corona is a red herring for those moves. The overnight lending was screwed back in Sept when the fed had to step in to stop the 9% rates with their repo agreements. The liquidity and banking system has been screwed, it's bad. They know more easy lending won't actually help the current short term virus-related economy as people will not shop right now and business are being closed temporarily.

Those people just spend a minimum of 6 hours in an enclosed tube with recirculated air blowing all kinds of deseases on them....I'm not sure standing next to each other after all that will make much more of a difference:D:D

Was in Manchester, Abu Dhabi, Sydney and Papua new Guinea recently and the ONLY airport that had actual checks the moment you exit the craft was papua new guinea...(of all places). The rest you just filed a form in....lol

Call me confused: in 2017, almost 80,000 Americans died from the regular flu. I don't recall a national emergency being declared then (never mind the now complete upending of our society and economy). How many have died of this virus in the US to date? Just asking...

China’s got it under control, and they’re taking ZERO CHANCES on a virus revival by enforcing a mandatory quarantine at designated quarantine facilities for ALL TRAVELERS and they have to pay for that quarantine stay as well. My friends there have already resumed their regular routine for 3 weeks now, life is returning to normal.

Korea the second country after China to report massive outbreak has also already tapered off.

These countries bought the rest of the world time, which some countries squandered away at their own peril. But we can still look to them to get a sense of how we will all cope in the coming weeks...

McLaren say the team member who tested positive for coronavirus at the Australian Grand Prix is "recovering well" and is now free of symptoms.

The McLaren employee's positive test on Thursday in Melbourne triggered the cancellation of the race after a series of meetings into Friday morning.

All McLaren personnel who travelled to Australia will stay away from the factory for two weeks as a precaution.

Fourteen who had close contact with the man remain in Melbourne in quarantine.

They are being helped through their 14-day self-isolation by racing director Andrea Stella, who volunteered to stay behind to support them.

McLaren Racing chief executive officer Zak Brown said the decision to withdraw from the race was "as a racer the hardest decision I've had to take, but as CEO it was the easiest".

Brown said McLaren had spent time "scenario-planning" before travelling to the season-opening Grand Prix "so we knew what our options were in the event of various outcomes".

He said: "[Team principal] Andreas [Seidl] and I had already agreed that if we had a positive test in the garage, there was only one option."

Yes, I saw that too on the internet, but wait for the President to officially announce it.
Apparently the government will call on the police, the gendarmes and even the army to enforce it.
Only one person leaving the house each day, and only for food supply.
No one allowed to leave his/her town, etc ...
Knowing the French, this will end up in riots !!!

Wife heard today from a business associate located in Sichuan Province of China. The Chinese national reported that they are all back to work (software firm). No news on whether restrictions on travel outside of the area have been relaxed.
