I watched the IMSA/iracing Sebring race yesterday. it was better than nothing but not compelling. it will be a long time before I watch that when actual racing is going on. the NASCAR iracing events are awful, because the iracing algorithm throws a caution on an oval if anyone spins. so the majority of the race is under caution. (kinda like real NASCAR I guess )
I live in the real world so I will not watch virtual racing. jus sayin It's taking me getting older to understand vintage car racing but now I get it. Virtual and Robo racing are not racing......they are video games. Unfortunately, I fear this is how the world is going. Fortunately, I'll be dead by the time it completely takes over.
What was the realization? I still don't get vintage car racing. It looks appealing but racing a modern car compared to racing the junk I have owned over my lifetime? No way. Porsche 944 racing with 180hp 36y/o clapped out chassis? 1960's Triumph TR6 is still a death trap even with a rollcage. 1960's corvette transverse leaf springs? I won't miss adjusting points or a carburetor ever again in my life.
Fatbillybob Vintage Racing, be it with SVRA or HSR involves all different classes of cars. From the low HP Production cars all the way up early 2000's LMP Prototype cars, there are plenty of different classifications, even endurance racing at tracks like Daytona & Sebring. I run in Group 6, which consists of Porsche, Corvette, Shelby, Boss 302 and Jaguar. I haven't seen any "junk", but I have seen some highly prepared race cars and a lot of very tight racing. I invite you to attend a vintage race, they are well run and heavily attended, in fact vintage racing is the single fastest growing segment of racing.
A grind to watch. On a scale of the pleasure received by taking the garbage to the end of the driveway, 2/10.
Surprise, surprise. 'Looked better than the multi-coloured seats at Daytona too..... Good job with the propaganda NASCAR...... I'll pass on any of the sim crap. More time to play some pool......
I watched the IMSA one and it was better than expected. Still not the same as real racing. Did you see any of the DwR Pooper Sebring? I watched a bit of that and it was hilarious. Not really racing, just funny.
didn't watch the DWR thing, if it was an hour or 90 minutes I probably would have watched all of it but it was too long. ain't got time for that
I tuned in for the last bit of it. No way I would watch the whole thing. It was more interviews with people than showing of any of the racing. After the Mike Shank interview, I believe #shotswithShank was trending on Twitter.
HILARIOUS!!!! I tuned in for 10-15 minutes and seeing an LMP, and indy car, a trophy truck, assorted GT, MX-5 cup, and a circle track midget out there....well done, gents. sjd
Eh, one good thing about NASCAR being on hold is that I'm getting a TON of yardwork done. Just sucks about my Talladega tickets.
Different strokes for different folks, eh? When NASCRAP is on, replacing stuff I might be interested in, I get more yard work (or naps) in..... Image Unavailable, Please Login ('Gotta' qualify it...pretty much only since COT, maybe a bit before. 'Used to enjoy real racing in NASCAR)
